Heads up - RAS 115 and Sysports Discontinued (US)

I’m also interested to know why the sysports are being discontinued? Maybe because the new systainers are coming out with different sizes etc, they’ll release a newer version?

Festool rarely comments on these types of topics. I don't think we'll see replacements but I could be wrong. I think the SYS-AZ drawers are the replacement.

Ok, I guess that I just hopped off the fence. I glanced at the Recon site just now and low and behold an RAS 115! Thanks for the help guys!

I know! I’m sorry [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] . Don’t worry, I’ll buy all of my consumables from you.

We sold out quickly of the RAS 115, but I just confirmed we have more that will be arriving on Monday or Tuesday. If you visited our website and couldn't order because it was out of stock, I've added inventory back to the site so you can now order it.

Sorry for the temporary out-of-stock message.

That is a killer price - just put in my order - this is a critical tool for me and would hate to be without one if something happens to my original.

Doesn't Rotex or similar rotary sanders from Bosch or Makita perform the same function in rotary mode? Same as RAS 115.

[member=15585]Svar[/member],

The Bosch 1250DEVS and Makita BO6500J are basically the same as the Rotex RO 150 in functionality.

We have both in stock, ready to ship.

It’s about disc speed, 600 rpm for the Rotex & 1500 rpm for the RAS.

You mean 3800 for the RAS.  [tongue]

It's a quite a difference. With the Rotex you still have to work hard to remove the paint. With the RAS, you just pet the paint and it's gone. If it were any faster, you'd take the wood along with it.

I still have my old RAS, darn fine sander but I'm sad because I can hardly use it anymore. People take too good care of their homes, I get no jobs anymore where the paint is so bad I have to use my RAS. It's a disgrace.  [mad]

Any more stock available? Website says out of stock.

[member=20998]safety1st[/member], I had just updated the site. We have more on order that should be available next week. If you order now with a credit card, you will not be charged until it ships. Paypal orders are charged when the order is placed.

Ya you're right Alex... [doh]  the funny part is that the 1500 rpm speed is directly from the Festool 2019 catalog.

Two things with that catalog:
"idle engine speed" - I'd rather be interested in disk speed
"Click to compare ..." at the top of the page. This is a paper catalog!

Wonder what the mpg rating is for those “engines”.
At least they didn’t use the same photo for both sanders.

Highland woodworking has them for $250 right now in stock.

[crying]

Highland is also not on the FOG giving you a heads up about this deal... Just sayin'. We really appreciate everyone who chooses Tool Nut as their Festool dealer of choice.

We have a better price at $225. Despite what our website currently says, we do have a few units on hand ready to ship tomorrow.

Just thought I would be helpful to other members. Members post all the time about deals at other companies that aren't on here not sure why it would mater either way.  Nice to have options.
