Heads up - RAS 115 and Sysports Discontinued (US)

Options are nice, but why post on Shane and Tool Nuts thread when they contribute as much to this forum as they do? Maybe start a different post somewhere, but don't put it on their thread.

[huh] - thought this was an open forum?

I ordered the RAS on ToolNut but all the RAS paper was out of stock. Any chance you have more coming in soon. While I am asking, do folks have any RAS paper recommendations?

[member=14731]JimReed[/member], yes, we have more abrasives on the way. We didn't anticipate the increased demand for sandpaper, which was our mistake. We should have a lot of it in stock around end of the week.

Saphir is great for stripping finishes, Rubin is best for bare wood shaping and sanding.

Awesome, I will watch for the paper to be back in stock and thanks for the advice.

Yeah I thought so also guess not. This is why I don't post much on here and will not post again about this subject. People seem to get upset about the stupidest things.

I actually think saphir is the best for sculpting. Stuff lasts forever. 24 grit will really hog wood. Light touches is key with this sander. You will melt the hook &loop if you are aggressive. You will get the hang of using it after some practice.

I agree, Shane has done way more to announce tool issues and tools that have been obsoleted than Festool corporate has ever done on this site. We hang around listening for the latest news on Festool tools and it's not Festool corporate that makes the announcements, but it's a third party that ALWAYS makes the announcements...what's with that? That actually obsoletes the need for a real Festool person to be actively engaged on the forum

Foolish me...but I think that the information that Shane gives out freely and the time he spends posting on the forum, needs to be rewarded.

It is in general an open forum.  As long as you are not another dealer you can post other dealer info in a dealers topic. But it may not be viewed as being particularly good form, regardless of who the dealer is.

Hmm,  people seem to get upset about the stupidest things.

When he worked for McFeely’s, Shane kept us informed (and more).
When he worked for Festool Shane kept us informed.
Now he works for ToolNut and is responsible for promoting several brands and he still breaks the news about Festool.

Three cheers for Shane!

I didn't intend to cause issues with my comment.

I work hard to support my family and the families of my friends (aka colleagues) at Tool Nut. I've logged thousands of hours on this forum over the past 15 years. When I post something like this, I do so hoping that because we are bringing you the information, you would consider ordering from us. I'm not naive, I know that some of you have your go-to dealer of choice and will order from them.

It's a just a little bit of a kick in the nuggets when there's a link promoting another dealer in a thread that I start.

Apologies for causing the reaction with my prior comment.

Now... back to talking about tools.  [smile]

I'm no longer a dealer, so I figured it would be ok to post here - not that Shane needs me to defend him, but  I agree with Cheese, Seth, Michael and Shane.

Shane has always gone above and beyond. This is an open forum, but posting in a dealer's thread about another's dealer's sale/promotion simply is discourteous and in bad taste. Something akin to walking into a Pep Boys brick and mortar and putting up an Autozone flyer on the wall, where you would be escorted to the door along with the flyers, instead of being mildly and politely chastised on a public forum

Open forum, you can say what you want, others can say what they want. Nobody "owns" a thread.

+1

(FYI - I have spent many of my tool budget $'s at ToolNut and with Bob. When I saw a post on another forum that the RAS was on clearance at Highland first thing I did was go to ToolNut to buy it. But, guess what, it was around $100 more to my door from ToolNut. Is there a reason it was less expensive at Highland first?)

[member=4518]Mike Goetzke[/member], always appreciate your business, sir.

Edit: Found the thread you referenced. It looks we originally had a higher price on that day (8/6).

Looks like your RAS paper is back in stock but sanding pads seem to be back ordered - when do you expect to get them in?

Thanks
Mike

Bob And Shane rocks. Simply put. Both guys go out of their way to talk and promote Festool and their dealerships. Bob enjoy your retirement.
Shane has always been their answering questions and helping members out.
And that’s way I have purchase 80% of my tools from them.
I just put as a lot of boxes. 😀
Just ordered two more RAS. Additional one for me and one for my painter.

Rick.

[member=4518]Mike Goetzke[/member], we have admittedly been struggling with the spike in demand for the RAS and its accessories. There are yet more pads on order and they will be in stock middle of next week or sooner. I would suggest anyone that's ordering from us go ahead and place your order to lock in inventory for your order. We do not charge your credit card until the product ships and you can cancel anytime. Apologies for the abnormal stock outs on our end.

[member=3515]RJNeal[/member], thanks for the kind words and the orders, sir. Much appreciated by all of us at Tool Nut.
