I just bought my first Festool tools yesterday, TS55Req, MFT/3 and a CT26

These are my first serious venture into some woodworking tools besides a '70 skillsaw, some squares and screw guns. 

I first heard about Festool over on the garagejournal.com and here we are almost 4 weeks later and I am proud owner and headed out to the garage to unbox and setup everything.  I have always had an issue cutting straight lines and when I saw the track saw I knew it was the start of a long and wonderful relationship!

Those three items are excellent first Festool choices. 
Possibly the only downside is that unless you have used your Skilsaw a fair amount you might not realize what a delight cutting with virtually no dust or mess is.  [thumbs up]

Most of my wood working has been outside with helping with my parents deck, and small items to cut in large shops so the dust never seemed to be an issue until last year we built a F1 replica cockpit for my sim racing out of MDF in my dads garage, holy sawdust everywhere batman.  And now in my little super single car garage (38 foot long by 11 wide I cut some 1/2 inch ply for a shelf on the skill saw and I was cleaning dust up for a week.  So far I hvae ripped some 4x8 sheets down for a built in shoe rack and hardly any dust.  The other thing I bought was the dust deputy 5 gallon bucket and although it is a terrible design for rolling with the CT it is doing a great job of separating I think.  I need to save up for the dust deputy that goes right on the top of the CT.

Welcome to the FOG and that is a great set of initial tools...you got the heart of the system and everything else you add will allow you to get more out of it.  This is an amazing group of members here willing to share advice and insight so just ask.

The bad news is that Festool makes so many fantastic tools and they all work so well together that I fear you have not purchased your last...

lol what timing I went to the GJ first to check out your updates and pretty much put the blame right on your shoulders!  Like I said if you wouldnt have ranted and raved about how awesome the drill/driver was I would still be completely oblivious to their existence! 

As far as it not being my last I fear the same, I already have a festool/woodworking wishlist on amazon, slowly but surely i will whittle that down buying piece by piece and looking for good deals on used stuff too.

As far as it not being my last I fear the same, I already have a festool/woodworking wishlist on amazon, slowly but surely i will whittle that down buying piece by piece and looking for good deals on used stuff too.

Here's a tip then - you know, to absolve some of my guilt. Check for used stuff on Amazon. It doesn't come up very often but when it does it seems to end up being a really good deal. The other tip I have is Craigs List. The trick to local stuff is to snatch the deals before anyone else and the way to do that is with a feed like blogtrottr.com. When I am really determined I do a nationwide CL search because if someone is selling Festool on CL they don't understand their market and there's a good chance they didn't price it high. I found my Domino in AL but I got it and a complete set of dominos for $650. It might take some convincing to a seller out of state that you're legit but it's usually worth the hassle.

My friend Ben and I were talking about it the other day. I always wince when I buy the stuff but never when I use it and I've never once regretted a Festool purchase. Wish I could say that about most other tools.

Nice first purchase!  Feel fortunate that you discovered Festool in your early ventures in woodworking.  I am starting a box for my son-in-law of hand-me-down tools that I can fill as I start getting Festool replacements.

For my first purchase I went the minimalist route --a set of clamps for $40!  It was a few weeks ago and before the release of the TS55 REQ.  I was in Woodcraft and decided to take the plunge, so to speak.  I decided to do my own workbench and I am milling a 36"X48" "MFT" style workbench top tomorrow on a large ShopBot I have access to.  I started building the frame today.  I made a promise to myself to build the workbench prior to buying the track saw, so the rush is on.

Over the past couple weeks I've purchased a set of bright green Qwas Dogs (love green, which is a good thing ...), Qwas Rail Dogs, a 75" guide rail and connectors so I can break down sheet goods, and ordered a Bosch vac hose since I will hold off for a bit on a Festool dust extractor.  In July I bought a Laguna cyclone so I'm struggling with a good story to tell the wife why I want to spend more money on dust collection.   ???

So just a little update,  bought a few new tlocs in the last year or so and the flip top tool box.  My gf's soon has 2 mini systainers and 2 micros he keeps Lego's in.  I also finally bought a couple of sanders too a 125feq and the other 125.  This week while in Indiana for work a guy was selling the old systainers.  So I bought some of those too.

I just bought 13 classics and 3 tlocs for about 25 bucks each.  I would like to get a few on that sale but this guy in here sold me a really nice first aid kit so have ran out of duckets for the month.
