Depending on your level of infestation you can try cedar wood oil.  THey sell it under numerous natural pest product brands, and the nice thing is it helps get rid of mosquitoes too.  A plus is that your yard will smell like cedar and it's not harmful to you or your family.

We use it spring and summer, but by the fall the mosquitoes get so bad here we have to resort to a commercial outfit.  Still, anything to not use chemicals is always a good route.

Careful with the cedar wood oil; it can cause contact dermatitis in some folks.

Cedar makes me sneeze.
When i was in mason biz, the mosquitos and other bugs really went after me.  When i Bought a diesel loader/backhoe, they quit bothering me. The only thing i could figure out was that they did not like the diesel smoke on my skin.  Days when i did not run the machine, they still bothered me.  days when i was running machinery, they left me alone.

For years, i was dangerously (life threatening) allergic to bees, wasps and hornets.  My doctor, before they came out with bee venom injections, told me to take vitamin B.  That was 40 +/- years ago. I started and it was less seldom that i got stung and the mosquitos let up on me.  Even tho i have been desensitized, I still take vit B every morning.  I seldom get bit by mosquitos and have bumped into bees nests and often, do not get stung. I am not debating that vit B might have something to do with it. If I think it works, that's good enough for me. My old fashioned MD is no longer with us.  You can see his pic occasionally in a well known comic strip tho.  I always say "Hi Dr. ----. Thanks for everything." when ever I see him.  but that's another subject, and everybody knows i never go off topic. ::) ::) ::)

If the above methods don't work try this. If this doesn't work you have a serious gnat problem

skin so soft is avon or ebay, i think its the vitamin B in marmite which makes it work, along with garlic.

when I used to teach survival to troops the solutions were smoke yourself with a stinky fire or smear mud on you. a pipe I understand works but I've never been a smoker.

the over hat nets work and I've got some mitts from a USAF survival pack somewhere.

however a proper manly answer of the Tim Allen stand up variety is to get some giant fans or a lawn mounted swamp type air boat and blow the blighter away from you.
