With the eccentric chuck mounted on the C15 drill, exactly how close to a wall can I drill a parallel hole? Would the T15 drill body allow the same distance/farther/closer? I'm ready to buy whichever drill gets the closest. Thanks guys.  Joel

I own an older C12 and the new T12. Without measuring to be exact I would guess the C drill is flatter on top and would allow one to drill parallel, closer to a corner or obstruction.

Just measured a T-15 versus a C-12.  They are identical distances with the eccentric chuck

C-15 is probably the same.

Here's why

The Eccentric chuck actually is offset and extends beyond the top of the drill.  So the distance from the edge of the chuck which would be flush against the wall to the center of the drill bit is about 5/16 of an inch.

See the photo:

5/16" to center of bit is even closer than I imagined. That's great news. Thanks a lot nelic for the info. Now, just have to decide which shape, C or T...
Decisions, decisions...

Let us know what you decide.  I'm on that exact same fence. Balance seems better on the T drills but I love the grip and feel of mx CSX.  Of course it's so incredibly light, balance is not an issue.  [tongue]  Now the Festool rep suggested the T18. Augh! [blink]

The only drills my dealer currently has in stock are the C12 and the T18.  No C15 or T15.  So, I can't do a "live" comparison of 2 tools of the same voltage in the 2 different configurations.  Makes it impossible to decide which I prefer... weight, balance, general feel to my hand, etc.  I know I can buy, try and return within 30 days, but that's more trips and more hassle AND delay.  And, how many times can you do the 30 day deal anyway?
