you can verify yourself, if your Carvex is an older prduction model, which may have to be reworked.
Just verify the Die Casting Marks on the Standard base suplied with your Carvex. You can find them right under the surface which is normally hidden by the machine body (see picture)
If your marks show a date of 06/10 than your should be fine. Its the date from where on all Carvex model have been updated during production run.

kind regards, Mike

jmb thank you for being so helpful lol

and michael m if this manufacturing stamp is on the base how do we know it is not just a new base and the old machine

Because the base AND the machine come from the same production run..

So Lee.  You sent it back because it was the old pre-fix model with a potential for problems?

Lee

Mine is date stamped 05/10 and I haven't had the problems others seem to have experienced, and it is in the old type systainer!!

yes i am going to send it back i dont want the risk or hassle of it having problems and would rather wait for the new model you never know it could be fine but i want to be sure
plus i want it in a new sys t loc i think i am well within my right seeing as though when i originally ordered it was agreed it would be in a t loc

Even though not each of the Carvex models was affected, it's safe to send it back and expect a new model, if you got it recently.

kind regards, Mike

My Carvex PS400 EBQ also had some problems with cutting in a straight line or when doing some curves. It would not stay in the blade guidance.
It's a machine from 01-10 and I sent it for repair to Festool Netherlands. Today I got a call that they replaced some parts and that everything should be fine by now. They will sent it to my house with UPS. And that all for free! That's what I call service.

I had a lot of trouble trying to cut some 1m60 circles with the Carvex so I sent it back. I'm still waiting to get it back, but yesterday had to cut a small 36cm diameter circle for a client who called in so got out the old PS 300.  Total disaster, sparks, burning wood etc - so I got out my old Bosch - cut the circle no problem. I would love to know what is going on.

I still have the issues with my Carvex, it was one of the first batch.  Do you guys recomend sending it back or pop the spring out & fix it myself ?

Woodguy.

I have no issues with my Festool jig(not carvex) cutting circles, but I do like the Bosch a bit better.

Having issues cutting circles with the PS300 is weird though. I have beat the crap out of my Festool Jig and it still cuts nice.

For a perfect circle I always use a router.  :)

Oh, if you can fix it yourself do it. Why send it in if it is that simple? If it is not that simple then send it in. I always fix what I can when I can.

Hi Woodguy,

If you are having problems and its a first batch jigsaw. Its more than just the spring thats at fault. Send it back to the wonderful TTS uk.
