My vac won't switch on. Was fine earlier today, but now will not start either by manual, auto or remote. There is still power through the outlet socket. If there's a simple explanation for this with a simple DIY fix I'd be awfully glad to know it, if it would save me the hassle of returning it to Festool for diagnosis.

Any ideas?
Much appreciated

That looks like a dead main (well, there is only one) electronics board or dead brushes ... not much you can do about except sending it in for service or trying to buy the spare part(s) and testing what solves it.

If you do not feel like playing the electric stuff, best is have your local service center check it up for any obviously broken wires/connections first.

Either way, considering the costs the first thing would be to buy a set of new brushes and replace them or have them replaced. Also re-plug all the internal wires while at it to rule out a bad connection. If it does not help the next step would be the electronics board.

Add:
If the motor was dying you would know about it by a "drummy" sound from the dying bearings long before. If this is your first "fail" that is unlikely as the motor assy should last for about three to four brush replacement cycles.
