Do the Foam sponge filters provide HEPA  filtration when using a unit for wet dry applications?

That is an interesting question. My guess would be when using the vac for pickup water/liquid the filters would not require HEPA because the particles would be wet and heavy (not float).

Using the Sponges in the vac instead of the HEPA filter for dry material like fine sawdust would not catch the small particles and not HEPA rated.

You should never get your HEPA filter wet as it will ruin the filter.

Matthew,

The sponge filters are mainly there to prevent water and debris to get into the motor unit. Use the sponge filter when vacuuming water and wet debris. There is normally no dust associated with
sucking up water and the sponge filters are not there to filter dust.

If you have a mixture of dry and wet/moist things to vacuum and need good filtration, we recommend to rather us the longlife filter (454 869) than the HEPA filter. This filter still filters particles down
to 1 micron, is made of a cloth material and more durable than the HEPA filter. If the longlife filter gets wet, just make sure you let it dry before you are reusing it.

Hope that helps.
