Hey Twin Cities, MN Metro people,

I just thought you might like to know about a chance to ask the Festool Rep your perplexing questions... such as the meaning of life!

Last summer there was a free event at 7 Corners and many in the metro didn't know about it.

I just found out that last weekend the rep was was at a different location doing what he will do at Woodcraft ....but I was not on the mailing list. So to close the loop I"m posting this.

This coming Saturday - December 10, 2011,  at:
Woodcraft Of Minneapolis
9125 Lyndale Avenue South
Bloomington MN
(952) 884-3634

Their emails says the following:

Got Questions? We've got answers!
Join us Saturday, December 10 for demonstrations with the Festool Regional Sales Manager, Danny Hale.

10am - Dust extraction and certification
12pm - Sanders and sandpaper
2pm - TS55 plunge cut saw.

Danny will be here to talk about the latest innovations from Festool and answer all your questions about getting the most out of your tools.

I hope many of us Festoolers can make this event. It is a great opportunity for us Festoolers to also meet and talk to each other and learn from each other.

If you can't make it but think this sort of event is a good thing maybe you should call the store and tell them and Festool, "get me on a list for the next time this happens".

For the record I am not connected to Woodcraft or get any benefit from them or from posting this.  Well maybe I will get benefit, if you count meeting others that have drunk the Green Koolaid that is....

Cheers,
Steve

This happens a lot.  Festool shows up at a local retailer, but the retailer fails in getting the word out in time.  Once word does reach the local woodworking community, we are a bit peeved.

FOG could help here...

If everyone's profile contained their zip or postal code, whenever a Festool rep was scheduled for an appearance somwhere, a quick SQL call identifying every FOG member that lived within a certain distance of the retailer would generate a list that could be fed into a email/merge process that could send an email from FOG Central to everyone selected.  [poke]

Problem is there's no field in the profile for zip code, just the generic "location" field, which is unstructured.

Maybe Shane can add a zip code field in the profile that would be a private field by default.

Wish they were spaced closer... Maybe I can dip out and grab lunch between sanders and ts55.

Thanks for the tip, Steve R. I plan to be there, maybe for the whole session. Been looking for this kind of thing locally since I'm a new owner.

Shameless bump to make sure people in the Twin Cities, MN Metro know they have a chance to talk to  Festool Rep.

Cheers,
Steve

Spent two valuable hours this morning at the Woodcraft Store listening to Festool rep Danny Mac Hale expound on our favorite line of tools. Not too many folks there so it was a pretty comfortable setting as he talked us through the Festool Dust Collection line. Toward the end he had time to talk me through the setting up of the MFT/3 which had given me trouble. I know I'll get it done right this time.

Also ran into Steve R. from the FOG, who first posted the info about this session. Steve, you are seriously addicted to the green.

I will take being "seriously addicted to the green." as a complement....LOL.

I now understand your handle Nikon, Cannon or ?  what camp are you in?

Attendance picked up around 1 pm and I know a Ct48 and a sander went out went out the door also many smaller accessories would have if they had been in-stock and not sold out.

A few head slap why don't I have that.....

Cheers,
Stee

My handle is a tribute to my first ever job as a photography pro with the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Dept. beginning way back in 1961. That's also the year I began my affair with Nikon and have been a faithful user of that brand for 50 years.

I came away from the Festool session having a real need for the CXS drill.
