Hey What Happened To Phill Beckley?

I just saw a few videos by him recently and thought that I hadn't heard his (internet) voice since some of the talk on the KS60.

The latest ruminit ( rumour intellegance) that I heard is he may have taken a job in Germany. But I don't know for sure
 
We've had a lot of "tool fairs" in the UK recently that he's been involved in, and he's been active on Facebook, so I don't think he's dropped off the face of the earth. Just a busy boy at the moment.

Phil is fine. Just busy. From what I hear, he's shooting new videos for Festool TV, working several events, and making some cool stuff happen.

The real Phil " BECKLEY"
I can confirm that he was seen demonstrating the new KS 60 in the wild backwoods of Kent UK
He did say he was going to be in Germany so guess thats where he is !!
Mind you he does get a bit of a bashing on here so maybe he is just keeping out of the way !!!
 
Phil is a busy guy and has spent a lot of time abroad recently. He also has the UK shows and his own training activities keeping groups of dealers and magazine people up to date with all the latest kit.

Much more important (sorry Phil) is....

What has happened to the Festool UK web site? It is almost unusable. Have they been hacked or are they busy installing new stuff?

They have recently swapped to a new platform for managing content. I don't know whether it was unusable earlier, but it's certainly fine for me on all browsers at the moment. What problems are you having / did you have?

Hi Garry

At the time that I made that comment I could not click through to various sub categories; for example, not being able to look at accessories from a specific tool page. That did right itself before I went to bed.

I do not like the look of the new site as the fonts are far too big and the information density is very low. It looks better with a 75% zoom level. Navigation is much slower which is a pain as I am often searching for answers to questions from various people.

I have tried it on IE10 and Chrome and both are the same.

I use the Festool UK web site a lot but now may just use the 2017 catalogue instead.

Just to add...

I have had a look at the Festool international site (festool.com) and it looks as it has done for the last few years and very similar to the way the UK site used to look.

I may now bookmark that for my Festool browsing.

Peter I wonder if Mrs Parfitt has installed some software to make the Festool site unusable? If so my wife says she'd like a copy!

She would love the idea but she is away at the moment  [wink]

I went to Axminster yesterday and bought some rather nice kit ! Video in a couple of weeks time showing some storage solutions.

PS: Phil is fine. I just spoke to him asking about borrowing a KS60 demo machine. He has been abroad several times lately and has a full house of demos today.

They're all being updated in a phased programme. The .DE site was first a few weeks ago.

It should make content far easier to access on all devices, mobile included, and will make content creation and upkeep significantly easier. If you have suggestions for improvement, or you are having problems accessing content that was previously available, please do let Festool know.

It's quite a task to make the sort of change they have, and it will benefit everyone in the long term. In the short term though, there are bound to be some teething issues, and I know not all content has been migrated yet and some links still take you to the "old" view.

Yes Phil is still around but due to various commitments such as travel, KS 60 / Planex easy launch, the Spring exhibition season and some time consuming projects I have had to reduce my presence on the forum. All of the time on the forum is outside of my overall work for Festool and is fitted in as and when I can. This is unlikely to change until end of March at the earliest

I found the old UK site slow to download. The new one is quick, and I found the products easy to find and quick to view. I hear that Festool Aust is about to update their site; a site full of errors. I hope the UK site is the model for that upgrade.

As for [member=41214]Phil Beckley[/member]: better to be missed than ignored!  [big grin]
