Good Morning,
In the future, people do not need to make a public announcement if they choose to take a "sabbatical" from the forum.

People choose to take "sabbaticals" from forums all the time, but if everyone who took a break felt the need to announce that fact, forums would be filled with such announcements!

If you want to see whether someone has been active in the forum, you can go to that person's profile.  It lists when that person was last active.  Also, if you click on "Show Stats" in the person's profile, you can see that person's activity level in various forum boards.  This is public information, which makes an announcement of your activity, or lack of activity, unnecessary.

You can see a member's profile by clicking on that person's name any time it appears in the forum.
