Does any one know if you can order the HK 55 (575085) and switch out the FSK 420 rail for the shorter (and cheaper) FSK 250 for the same price as the 575085 with the 420 rail?  Or are you forced to spend more money to get the smaller rail, either in addition to 575085; or by purchasing the saw alone (561756) and the 250 alone?    [eek]

Depends on the dealer.  Festool occasionally has an issue with designing packages that fit the needs of users who are already invested in the system -- the HKC set doesn't have a basic tool + rail option for those of us who already had the battery platform.  It would be nice if there were more flexibility in some of the tool packages -- the pick-a-rail option being one idea.  But hey, I still bought it, so I guess I can't complain [unsure].

As previously mentioned, discuss this topic with your preferred Festool dealer.  The guys at Hartville Hardware asked if I wanted the FSK420 rail or something else when I purchased my HK55EQ.  I took the FSK420 rail because I need the capacity and might get the FSK250 later this year.

Keep in mind that the FSK250 is $150 and the FSK420 is $175 when purchased separately.  [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] mentioned in another thread that the prices are adjusted when swapping the rail size with a TS55REQ or TS75EQ package.  Hopefully this remains true if you decide to get the FSK250 instead of the FSK420.

EUREKA!  Festools-online lets you select, on their web page, what size FSK you want.  They discount the smaller one if you pick it, and charge more for the larger one if that is your choice.  Price with FSK 420 is the same.  How nice.    [not worthy]

Nice.

I still don't know why they make the FSK670.  It's too long to balance with one hand.

That long is perfect for diagonals, I have and use all three sizes.  When cutting our stair stringers it is perfect as you can use one for each angle.
