HL 850 Planer Blade Alignment

I'm having two problems with my HL 850 Planer blade alignment. First, and worst is this: the left side of any slice I make is about 1mm (1/32") lower than the right side. On small projects, I've just sanded this out. It's a lot of work, and very time consuming, but so far I've just muscled through it. 

But now I'm working on a large slab of wood (13 feet by 3 feet), and this is a big problem for me. I don't see any way to adjust the blade.

The second thing is the dial that indicates blade depth. If I set it a "0", the blade makes a very deep cut.  Indeed, the only way to not take off large amounts of wood, is to set it almost all the way back to "P". This leaves me no real ability to make minor blade depth adjustments.

The best way to get your issue resolved is to contact our Service Department. They are in the best position to help diagnose your problem and offer a solution. I'm sure they can get your HL 850 operating to your satisfaction. Their number is below in my signature and also on the side of your tool.

I did call the customer service number and got great service. The problem is resolved, and totally to my satisfaction!  The guys there were very helpful, and talked me through several things, and then decided it was best if I just sent the machine back in. They emailed me some paperwork and a mailing label that made the return a breeze (and no charge to me!). In about a week, I received a return. Actually, they sent a brand new planer to me.  I was completely happy with the professionalism, and the speed with which the entire thing was handled. In fact, I was especially impressed that they were able to tell me ahead of time how long it would take to resolve the problem. That really made it easy for me to plan ahead and decide how to proceed on my project.

Thanks for the great service!  I own many other Festool products and have been extremely happy with each of them. The great service only enhances the experience, and makes me a much more loyal customer.

Not only to you get some of the world's best power tools you also get first class service, and to think some people complain about the price of these tools.....
