I've just stumbled across it online but I don't recall it ever being mentioned on the FOG?  I did a quick search for "radio" but nothing linked to an "actual Festool radio"

Google it and see........

Seems to be unique to Australia. Looks like it was FREE with the purchase of a Dust Extractor last fall...

It's not made by Festool. Someone obviously just puts the Festool logo on it.

Metabo version...

At around £140 for an analogue radio, I'd expect superior dust collection comparative to other receivers!!!

That radio has been posted about here before I believe.  Not much traction or interest exactly because of the reasons posted earlier.

Yeah it has been mentioned before it's not a very good product apparently

The one posted on here before didn't look like those above though, it must be a newer version

meh...

Put it in a Systainer and then we can talk.

It's nothing special !!

The metabo one has some useful features - the festool one either chews "D" batteries or runs off main or transformer. It doesn't use festool batteries and it certainly doesn't charge them [sad]

Something with festool battery charging (and festool battery powered when not mains connected) with wifi and digital radio, in a systainer format, would be a winner!

I butchered my systainer into a radio!    Big mistake!  lol  I need to start from scratch really!    At first I thought brilliant BUT because of the thin plastic sides and lid the entire thing vibrates when the lid is closed.

Its okay if the volume is low but soon as you turn it up it doesn't sound brilliant and the lid must stay open!  Down side to the lid being open it sounds more tinny.    So i try to turn the volume up enough so it doesn't vibrate to much but I can keep the lid shut so it has more base

Realistically you'd need to build a proper speaker enclosure and then mount it into the Systainer with a bit of isolation material.

JMB, you should start with a Midi Systainer ... [wink] [big grin] much better separation!

[blink] I'm very very surprised festool haven't brought out a systainer radio, I'm sure they would sell very well! Maybe there's something in the pipeline????

I'd rather Festool stick to making great tools and not get involved with radios and other non-tool gadgets.

Don't know if it's still true, but for a while Dewalt held a US patent on a combination radio/charger so nobody else could legally make or sell one here. I found that out when I caught a marketing guy from Milwaukee in a weak moment at a trade show some years back.

It seems to me that I've since seen combos from other manufacturers, so maybe the patent expired, was declared invalid, or whatever...

Patent holder can license others to use their patented ideas. This also applies to copyrights and trademarks.

Depending upon what country and how many countries an idea is patented in, determines where the idea can can be used and where the created products marketed.

Buy a jambox or something rugged and run your phone to it via Bluetooth and listen to what you want.

I am a firm believer in letting companies build what the do best. I wouldn't buy a radio from Festool and I wouldn't buy a tool from Polk Audio.

I don't work on a job site but I do have a BT speaker (cheap knock off of a Jambox) in my shop that can get dusty or have cobwebs on it. I stream rhapsody, Spotify, iTunes Radio or whatever I am in the mood for.

Cheers. Bryan.
