Hold on a minute...........why has nobody mentioned the Festool radio?

Buy a jambox or something rugged and run your phone to it via Bluetooth and listen to what you want.

I am a firm believer in letting companies build what the do best. I wouldn't buy a radio from Festool and I wouldn't buy a tool from Polk Audio.

I don't work on a job site but I do have a BT speaker (cheap knock off of a Jambox) in my shop that can get dusty or have cobwebs on it. I stream rhapsody, Spotify, iTunes Radio or whatever I am in the mood for.

Cheers. Bryan.

This is really for folks who are at jobsites..Most people aren't going to stream, since there more than likely isn't wifi so now your sapping your data place to stream those jamboxes..They sound like crap anyway. No speaker that small can sound good, and be heard well over saws, sanders, routers etc all day.

That little Festool radio is decent, but one speaker is it's biggest weakness. I am still a sucker, I 'd buy it, after all it says Festool

1. You don't need wifi at all!  A lot of people have music stored on their phones or iPads or iPod touch etc.

2. These little things can throw out some sound and not bad quality at all!   I have a jawbone has 15hour battery life can run of mains and is really loud and not bad quality sound.   I bought mine yesterday from the NEC GADGET SHOW for £145 which not bad.   I was torn between that and braven 855 (  £250) which is splash proof and more impact resistant but because of price and my mate already had a jambone and loved it I decided to get jambone.

Bingo JMB. I mentioned all of the streaming but failed to say the local tunes. I have a grandfathered iPhone plan with unlimited LTE data, so I tend to forget about the rest of the world.

I've got the Bosch PB360 and absolutely love it. I use it in my basement gym and woodshop and outside when it's summer (where I do most of my work when it's 70 and above!). I can plug my iPod, IPad and iPhone in and the sound is ferocious. I've seen the Metabo radio but haven't gotten to listen to it and like everyone else here in thenGood Ole USA, no sign of a Festool :(

It's just a rebranded item. Festool didn't make it, but some company which probably knows how to make radios did. Then Festool slapped a logo on it. And it's not like it is a challenge to make radios these days, the technology is well over 80 years old.

Precisely

Just because something has a Festool logo on it doesn't mean you should buy it. They aren't Pokemon.

Although the Festool radio is sold in Oz as a separate item, most people that have them (me included) would have received them as bonuses with other purchases. Based on features, I wouldn't spend the money on it ... but it is a cool "brand fan" item, much like the little esky, t-shirts, etc.

Festool - Gotta catch em all

Doesn't have the same ring to it does it?

I always felt a little disconcerted by the terminology 'fan merchandise' on the Festool site.

I got one recently as part of a deal and it is pretty good. Sound quality is pretty decent and is perfect if you want to listen to the radio which is all I wanted. I wouldn't pay the retail price for it thats for sure but for what it is.................... a radio it does that very well. I'm not interested in charging my phone or streaming music...have plenty of other devices to do that with ....in my workshop I just wanted background music / news etc. And it is handy to have the time and an alarm so I don't forget to pick my son up from school :)
Overall good for what it is if you get it as a deal........just a radio admittedly with cool green knobs and a festool logo.
