Ok, I couldn't resist.  Or shall I say I did resist purchasing the Festool Suction Hose Holder for my new CT22.

What I couldn't resist was tinkering.  I wasn't that impressed with the $32 accessory, and thought I might try something a little different... and less costly.

I went to Home Depot and picked up a "driveway marker".  This is a fiberglass rod with a reflector on the top.
A few simple steps
  • Pop out the reflectors
  • Cut the rod to length (whatever height you like)
  • Sand the last inch or so of the rod to a slightly smaller diameter, so it fits into the mounting hole

Tah-dah, a fiberglass hose/cord holder.  It flexes/bends easily and smoothly.

I hope this helps the fellow tinkerers out there who (like me) can't leave well enough alone.

Oh, and the price for the driveway marker:  $1.98  !!

By the way, if you over sand the tip of the rod, making it just a little too thin... add a wrap or two of vinyl tape (or electrical tape) to bring the diameter back to a snug fit.  This also gives it a little resistance to twisting in the hole... actually a nice feature.

Maybe this thread should be moved to the "Festool Jigs, Inventions, Tool Enhancements" section.
