Believe it or not, this was assembled using the Domino XL.

did you use the domino xl as a weigth to hold it together

How did you cut it open to minimise the kerf width? Japan saw? Band saw?
 
I cut on the tablesaw and rejoined the pieces (without glue) before shaping and finishing. Tenons align and secure interior joints that can't be seen. You may have noticed that some joints have no domino. Those show on the exterior so I broke the piece after shaping and finishing. These joints are glued only and, after touch up, are all but invisible.

Yeah, and a LOT of sanding, right? And your photography is amazing! Are you selling it, entering a contest, or....?

Yes, more hours sanding than I like to think about!

The piece was made for fun but was juried into an art exhibit this past January. No plans to sell it at this time.
