Looking for some clarification. I only have an ETC EC150 sander and the TS55 saw.  The saw recommends a 36mm hose, but it looks like the extractor I want (CT48) comes with the smaller hose. If I buy a bigger hose does it connect to the tools or will I need some kind of adapter.

The 36mm hose will fit the TS55.  I use the 36mm hose with my TS55 and the CT26.  The smaller hose is better for the sander because you will be reducing the suction anyway and won't need the extra bulk of the larger hose.

The D36 hose will not connect to the sander without an adapter.  The smaller hose (with D27 tool end connector) that comes with the CT48 vac will connect to the TS55 (no adapter) and the sander.

The smaller hose will perform very well on the DC for the saw. The D36 does a little better but the smaller hose works almost as well. I suggest that you get the CT and try it out. You may find that you won't care about getting the D36 hose.

I don't bother with the 36mm hose when using the TS55, the 27mm hose is fine. Where the larger hose makes a difference is with tools that make a lot more (or bigger) chips. I use the 36mm hose with the OF1400 and the TS75, especially when ripping solid wood.

If the D27 hose end goes inside the tool dust port, the D36 hose end can fit over the dust port. If however the D27 hose end goes over the dust port, the D36 hose end won't fit.

I use the D36 for my EHL, for floor cleaning, for the wall chaser and the CMS-OF. Sometimes with the TS. All other tools (RTS, PS, Domino, OF-1010) don't take the D36 hose or have zero gain from using the thicker hose.

The D27 hose, especially the new bajonet style is prone to clogging at the hose end entry, especially if it's inside a dustport.

If you want to buy a D36 hose I recommend looking at the cleaning sets, as those come at a nice discount + free Systainer compared to buying everything separately.

That's exactly how I got mine. Then I realized how good it was for the bigger tools, especially the fence port of the router table.

Thank you for the replies!  I’m not going to worry about it then unless I have issues.  The TS is the new one with the thinner blade so it is going to make less dust in my thinking.

A CT48 is great if dedicated to the shop. Carrying one around is cumbersome. I have two CT36's with one being an AC version, and even they can be a handful when full. Both have Bluetooth which I would never give up. I keep a boom arm on the basic CT36 with a 5 meter D36 hose, then a short section of D27 hose converts it. Always use the biggest hose possible.

For dust collection on the TS55 if a slide in side cover is available that makes a HUGE difference.
