Hose Garage for CT 15 E

I just ordered my DF 500 and would like to get a dust extractor to use with it.
I am not overly concerned about the wheel lock or the Bluetooth (I do not have any cordless FT tools, and don't plan to get any).
I have seen a few places where people have posted that the 204717 hose garage will fit the CT 15.
I have been having a hard time finding it in stock any where.
I have found a 499748 hose garage that says it's for non-Bluetooth extractors.
Does any one know if the 499748 hose garage will fit the CT 15 E?

Excited to get my first FT, I'm sure there will be plenty more, definitely a corded TS 55 and a Kapex, and most likely a sander or two.

499748 is not designed to fit the CT 15, it's for the older model CT MINI and MIDI (non-I models).

The hose garage design is different enough between the two that it likely would not work.  If I were at home, I would check my OG MINI and MIDI-I to verify that they're built differently, but alas...

Still on the fence.

The small capacity of the MINI does not appeal to me.

The price of a Mini or Midi is twice that of a CT15. If you don't need anti-static and BT, a CT15 is more than good enough for your stated machines (DF, sanders, Kapex and TS). Adding a regular Dust Deputy and bucket/pal will solve the capacity concerns plus you will hardly need to replace the bag ( may be once a few years or more).

I'm seeing $399 for the CT 15.
    $65 + shipping for the hose garage (which no one seems to have in stock).
    If I decide to upgrade the hose that's $120 - $130.
    That gets me pretty close to $600.

I'm seeing $659 for the MIDI.
    It's close, kind of a tough call.

I'd probably go with the 15 if I could get the hose garage.

But, I can be pretty impatient.
And I really like the idea of being able to stack systainers on top.
Right now it will be used for my domino and my Shaper Origin.
I will likely get a FT sander next.

The Bluetooth thing is WAY more useful for turning the vac from the hose end than it is for the "Festool cordless" use case.

In your case, I would go for the Mini instead. But this is European view where the price diff is a bit less.

Again, price diff aside, the CT15 is really good for static single-tool use. Once you consider it as a general vac, it becomes just too compromised.

That said, per eKat, the hose garage set is part # 204717. Most retailers will not stock it explicitly but it can be ordered as a spare part.

Though a better way may be to sell your "semi-garage" to a Mini owner who wants to reduce the footprint of his vac ...

Agree with Mino here, you don’t ever need to own any cordless Festool Bluetooth enabled battery tool to sincerely appreciate having a Bluetooth remote for your vac. You don’t even have to have the remote attached to the hose - put it wherever you find it useful - and you can get additional remotes if you like.

A situation where you buy a sander, battery operated from another manufacturer - you’ll have the great benefit of having the remote within reach  [wink]
Metabo has a solution; it’s a socket coupled with a remote like Festool’s, but it is also triggered by vibration if strapped to a tool or hose close to the tool. It’ll work with any vac.
Then again, it’ll bring a total cost close to a CT Mini/Midi.

The CT15 is best value if you don’t plan “upgrading” it at all (ie: you already have an AS hose)

I'm convinced. I'm going to get the MIDI and Bluetooth remote for the domino and the Origin. 

I'll probably get a CT 15 later when I get my Kapex and leave it connected to that.
The Kapex will be on a built in miter saw station and won't be getting moved.
No need for a hose garage, Bluetooth or wheel lock for that application.

Got the CT MIDI and bought a BT remote for it (because...why not?).
The DF500 showed up.
I'm very happy with my new toys, uh, I mean tools...

I was considering the Ct-15 ,but after having the BT on my Ct-26,I wouldn’t have a vac with out it.

Festool is pretty smart in making a non-BT dust extractor at a much lower price point available so it can grab more sales, e.g., from those who just need the basic dust extraction functions, and have no use of other features, such as the anti-static hose and hose garage.

I have one CT15, and may get another one if any one of my existing shop vacs stops working. All my dust collection equipment sits right next to the machine(s) it serves.

This does the same thing for about 1/10th the cost. Okay, you slip the remote into your shirt pocket instead of strap it on your wrist. It is rated for 15 amps. No spec given for the red one. It also has a 6 inch pigtail so it doesn’t block any other outlets when plugged in.

I haven't looked at the Milwaukee control to see how it works, but the kind of remote you linked (which I have half a dozen of) controls and provides power to the CT15, but won't turn it on like a BT. Did I miss something here?

Hi Chuck, the Milwaukee remote requires you to push the button to start the vac. It (the vac) is not started by the tool like the Festool remote. It’s as limited as the remotes that cost 1/10th as much. One thing I’m shocked by is the photo that shows the main unit plugged into a quad box outlet. It uses one outlet and blocks use of the other three.

It's useless if it requires the physical pushing of a button on the vac, and it isn't a BT feature as I know it. $120? I'd rather dish out an additional $200 plus change, and get one more CT15, which has the auto-start function.

It’s a lot more useful than that! [blink] It only requires pushing a button on the remote. That’s a big convenience for me. I use the cheap things on my vac and on my Jet dust collector.

With the Milwaukee remote, do you still need to push the manual button on the CT15 to turn it on?

If pushing a button on the Milwaukee remote will turn on the CT15 (without pushing anything further on the CT15), then it's a different story.

I'm making (I think valid) assumption the Milkwaukee remote works just like every other automatic vacumm trigger.  If you can unplug/plug your CT15 to stop/start it, then you could use the Milwaukee remote.  If the CT15 has the equivalent of a magnetic safety switch so that it won't turn on after a power loss, then the universal Milwaukee remote won't work.
