Hi,
What a wonderful place this is! I seldom post but read here a lot, very educational and inspirational. Thank you!  [smile]

I'm about to place an order to purchase the Kapex, CT36, boom arm and Rotex 90. Gulp!  [eek]

I have the Midi already and plan to hook it to the Kapex when it's not used as a mobile sander-vac around the house. I will use the CT36 with boom arm for work around my mft.

Now I'm thinking of the best hose-arrangement? I've read somewhere that many use a shortened version of the 36 mm hose to connect to Kapex. Also many use 36mm for the boom arm but with a detachable "whip end" of 27 mm for increased flexibility.

My question is what do I need to get this to work?

I already have two hoses in 27mm, one of them being the plug-it version.

I assume I need more than 3.5 meter of the 36 mm and then cut it in two pieces. Will 5 meter do or should I get 7 meter?

What aditional connections do I need?

I have searched this great forum and the web, found bits of information but would very much appreciate a more complete and precise answer.

I suggest that you buy the UG Cart and a CT MIDI for your Kapex. I did for mine and it is one very happy saw! I made some modifications to my stand that while increasing the mobility and stowage for the CT MIDI did in fact require no alterations to the UG Cart itself. It really enhances the enjoyment of using this fine saw.

I only needed about four feet of 36 mm hose for this setup. You can buy the longer hose and cut it to length then attach the connector very easily. Most Festool dealers will have the proper connectors in stock. The advantages of this setup are as follows: Easy to safely move the Kapex around the shop, dedicated dust collection for the Kapex and easy to convert back to stock UG Cart use for outside jobs if needed.

Thank you Scot for that thread link.

I think I have all specs clear, I will order the 7 meter version and cut as needed. 5 will probably be a little short.
I need an extra 27 mm toolend to create a whip end to use on my book arm.

Also I need one extra 36 mm vac end plus 36 mm tool end for the kapex setup. The 36 mm hose on the boom arm already has connectors.

Tom, that is very a nice setup, I have seen it before and it's one of the reasons I'm going in this direction. I will have something similar except for that nice platform but maybe I will steel your idea at some point  [smile]

My only concern is that my midi is of the older version with the less powerful motor, we'll see if it's up for the task.
