I did a search for this but couldn't find anything. I also hope I'm posting this in the correct forum. Does anyone have one of these yet?

Hose w/ sleeve

I've been hoping for something like this to come out for years. I've always had issues with the way the hose catches on the end of the guard rail (that plastic deflector thing never worked well for me either). The sleeve with the cord in it just seems to makes soooo much sense. I am having an issue with the cost of the darn thing, but I've had the same issue with every Festool purchase I've ever made too. Nothing new there...

Anyway, if someone has one, please post your thoughts, likes, dislikes. I can't be the only one who sees the benefit in this thing, am I?

I have the 3.5m version - TL;DR is I like it.

I got it 'used' but in near mint condition, the contractor that sold it to me said his guys didn't use it as they didn't feel to drag around an extra part to jobsites.

Cons:
- Less flexible (a bit), not really bad but minimal curvature radius is higher than hose alone
- Dosn't fit well (or at all) into the hose garages of the vacs
- Heavier to carry around, but not that bad (at least the 3.5m version, 10m will add 5kg to your gear)
- Price, at least for the short version, as the sleeve dosn't seem to be available as a part so upgrading of existing hoses isn't an option
- In wet/dirty/paint conditions may be harder/impossible to clean as stuff could latch (in-)to the fabric

Pros:
- Way less of a trip hazard as the cord mantrap is contained within the sleeve
- Hose and Cord dosn't knot together anymore
- Cord can't individualy hitch to objects anymore
- Less sticking at edges and corners as the outer ribbing of the hose is shielded and glides along easier
- Simpler to exchange tools as the Cord always is at a known place at the end of the hose and can't fall down
- Most likely less scratching potential as the hose can't pickup small sharp objects between the outer ribs

I'm having similar frustations for the moment, so yes, there's a lot of benefit to be had.

I don't know about your situation, but I only need my tools for part of my job. And figured just to give Dave Stanton's approach a try, and ordered a flex tube two days ago. (currently awaiting delivery).

Found someone else who does the same, but includes the cable in the wrap. Which I'm planning on doing as well.

This solution will be nowhere near the quality of the Festool sleeve, but it's just too cheap not to try :)

But if I was planning on using this all day, every day, I would go for the Festool sleeve right away, no doubt there.

That's such a good idea... So simple that I'm annoyed with myself for not thinking of it on my own. Just did a search and found this:

Hose Cover

It sure is a heck of a lot cheaper, might be worth a try... Festool wants $250 US for the 3.5m hose w/ sleeve and you get a systainer, new hose, new cord, and what seems to be a better wrap (Festool's has a zipper that will allow you to remove it) with it. My current hose has seen better days, so I may just go with Festool's. The braided sleeve idea is a really good one though, thanks for posting that.

By the way, the Festool sleeved hoses are also tapered (from 32 to 22 mm, I believe) for better ease of handling.

I have the 3.5 sleeved hose it's a relief that things are reduced into a single unit instead of cable and hose. I think for sanding and cutting with the TS 3.5m is fine. For longer reaches I bought a hose connector so by connecting it to my existing 3.5 unsleeved hose I get up to 7 meters, I figure it's more at the working end that you need the sleeve..

I'd recommend it especially for sanding, edge routing and sawing..

I have the long $375 jobbie. I still can't believe I paid that much for a dang vacuum hose but that's another matter...

I keep mine for stationary use. It allows me to keep my CT out of the way and I run the hose up the wall to a (non-festool) boom arm that swings to both my workbench and MFT. Despite the cost I actually really like it. When I go back to the uncovered hose I am reminded how much the hose used to catch on edges. It's a clean solution. Although, in fairness it's hard for me to isolate how much my satisfaction is derived from the hose itself or the setup it allows me to make. But it sure is nice not having to go near the vacuum and just swing the arm and hose out from the wall and go to work.

I did the same - I have the CT26 in the middle of my basement shop under the Kapex. Instead of a boom arm I ran open hooks along the ceiling in both directions - one side has the MFT3 and the other side set up to break down larger sheet goods. This set-up works great. The cost was worth every penny IMO - always ready to go with any Festool!

I think unlike most on here I use my extractor for several hours each day on site, even so it took me years and years to even buy Festool hoses preferring the MUCH cheaper 32mm x 5m Trend non as grey hose (which perfectly fits the extractors) which retailed at £40.

After years and hundreds of frustrated incidents of static and kinking I finally relented and bought some 36mm and 36/32mm hose (28mm is too small for general on site use for me) so far I haven't looked back.

After further months of tangled hose and cables I started using velcro ties, which was good, but time consuming if you use the extractor and change tools as much as I do, then finally on this very site someone mentioned thishttps://www.techflex.com solution, which is a brilliant solution.

So far I have only done a 3.5m x 36/32mm which I use for my power screeder and edge sander and I bought the Festool 3.5m x 28/22mm sleeved hose for my Rotex/ETS and jigsaw and again so far I haven't looked back.

I just recently bought the 10m sleeved hose which I haven't used yet, for stairs and busy site areas where I can put the CTL in another room and a 7m x 36/32mm hose that I will convert to an industrial euro plug/sleeved hose combo for longer reach on my edger and screeder for larger/commercial jobs.

It's classic Festool, yes the price is high, yes the price is higher than it should be and yes they only can get away with that because no one else makes them and yes once you have actually bitten the bullet you could never imagine going back and marvel how you coped without the feature for so long.

Yes it's Festool's fault for overcharging us just as much as it's the rest of the worlds fault for not having the intelligence or imagination to come up with some of the worlds best engineering solutions. If you want the best, you normally have to pay for it.

I wished Festool would come out with a 7m x36/32mm version but I suspect didn't do so for risk of being sued for all the sticker price related heart attacks that would of ensued. Once over the hump on hose purchases I would of bought one, the 28/22mm diameter is great for the smaller machines but for heavy onsite use I have found I need a larger diameter.

I can't say it's a no brainer because the tech flex solution is perfectly adequate and economical if you want to convert several hoses but for me I am very happy with my 3.5m version.

As with all my tools I like to spend as little as possible whilst getting the absolute best tool for the job, that has meant me trying almost every dual action and random orbital sander for a total of several thousand hours over several years before actually buying a Rotex and, apart from the very uncomfortable selector switch on the sander head I can't really fault it.

Ditto the sleeved hose. I tried absolutely everything to avoid buying the Festool version but years later after countless iterations of lesser solutions I went the full Festool.

Sometimes there is only one perfect solution and sometimes that is Festool, for me that is one of those times and I use my extractor for dozens of hours per week.
