I put an early order in for the kit back in June through Burns Tools in Fall River, MA for my 18 year old son starting a wood boat building program.  It was a high school graduation gift.  They've missed 3 different commits and last call it went to 'we don't know when we'll get it'.  Might be great tools but it's just awful trying to get an answer.  I know it's COVID but I represent a factory in Dresden Germany and they are at 100% execution so that justification is getting old - especially when you launched in the middle of COVID.

What gives?  Can you get me the tools that you do have?

festool has fullfillment issues I heard from a dealer the other day they are having a hard time getting the cordless tools

I’ve never built a boat, but I do own a bunch of Festool. I would call Festool up directly and ask them about the ETA. Not sure if you’ve called around to other dealers, but you might see who has what? Some of the dealers might carry inventory? You can PM me and I can suggest a few or just go through the usual list of suspects... if all else fails just piecemeal the tools.

I personally like a corded circular saw, but if you are outside in a boat yard I can see the need for cordless. I’m sure the dealers have the cordless ts-55 in stock? I would also look into the cxs 10.8 volt drill it’s not a beast but good for fine detail stuff and fits into tight spaces. Just wondering about sanders or is there lots of handplaning? The TID 18 the dealers have in stock. Good luck with your search... he has the rest of his life to use the tools, so you could always get some red or blue tools in the interim or lend him your green tools? I’m getting to the age where the tools might outlive me. 😂

I have a real concern that any new tools might outlive my ability to use them safely. I used to be able to multi-task easily. Now I have to concentrate to just uni-task.

exactly! The monsters in the shop are the Table Saw, circular saw? and Miter Saw, planer. Anything with spinning steel carbide teeth and blades  The rest are a safety hazard... I give the power tools that sit on a cart my undivided attention - yah uni-task. 👍
That’s my workflow for years, so when I get older, can’t see and feeble 89+ I’ll convert over to more hand tools, until I’m using a butter knife 🧈 to scribe a line. But nature might fix that anyway. 🧟‍♀️
