Ive gone all day without my Coffee so bare with me  [eek]

How do i replicate this? I assume its two different bits, one to make the ship lap and the other to "bevel" for the reveal. Looking at doing a small room in my house with it and would like to break in my OF1400 when i pick it up next week.  [big grin] Any Help would be greatly appreciated!

seeing as I dont have a rabbeting bit, I would do it on the table saw with my dado set, then router with a 45 chamfer bit. Perfect world, I would hunt down a router bit that makes this.

there is probably an all in one bit that will do that for you.
if not then it is a rebating bit and a chamfering bit

Hmm, Didnt think about dadoing it. The closest I found was this with the undercutting, http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/triplewing.html

Ahh! chamfering, that was the bit i was looking for. Im like you guys thinking there has got to be a router bit that does this.  ???

I would make the 45 degree cuts with the table saw. Goes a lot faster. We don't have dado blades here so I would do the straight part with a straight router bit and then make the 45 degree cuts on the TS .

make sure to setup as much feather boarding as you can to keep cuts from straying on a table saw. makes the one man operation possible. why don't you buy this already cut? are you going to use something aside from pine?

I was thinking of actually doing Cherry and staining it darker color as an accent wall but the more i think about it I just want to just use Pine and do a nice whitewash in the entire room. The Whole reasoning for wanting to do this my self is because its next to impossible to find in my area, even in Pine (cherry i understand lol) My local milworking place can get it but for $26 a sq.ft.  [blink]

Finding it online and its doable its just that the shipping is insane for obvious reasons. I would have thought with all the older homes around here and in Pennsylvania it would be more common  ??? Im really looking for that look, I dont want it to look like i went to lowes and picked up the $8 T&G paneling

the price seems reasonable for their planking. Don't know about the shipping though.

Wow, thanks for that website link. Website is surprisingly reasonable and got really excited but realized it was only 3.5" wide, was looking for 5.5" Have any more of those kinds of websites up your sleeve?  [smile] I book marked it because ive seen some other things i want to get from them.

Thanks Again all for your help! i cannot believe how hard this stuff is to find, can get it all over europe but not here  ???

Am I being silly here you are saying shiplap but your picture is showing just a regular tongue and groove board with a v groove.

Dead easy to do u can do it with two separate cutters but I would buy the cutter set which would do the groove and shamfer in one go and same with the tongue.

If you are wanting to make proper shiplap u need a bigger router I think and a panel mould cutter.

Check the photo again, it's shiplap v-groove. which I doubt he really wants, unless he likes/wants face nails

There are 'tongue and groove' bit sets that also have a chamfer or 'v-groove' design element. CMT I know makes one.

Thanks Guys all of your help and suggestions are really helpful!  :)

I keep going back and fourth on whether todo a accent wall out of nice wood and make it my self or do the whole room out of shiplap (or T&G) and do milky whitewash. If i do the accent wall I want to make it look really old and rustic, even distressing it using the old style wedge nails on the face. I have actually been trying to find for the last month or so a place that reclaims lumber like this but none in my area that anyone know's off unless i want to drive down to Virginia for it.

Keep it coming! and i was worried about the OF1400 doing all of this, i have an old trusty 3.5HP ryobi that i may use, decided im not going to go with the 2200 since im not going to need all that power but every once and a while and rather put that money towards the CMS router table

Try http://www.woodboardsandbeams.com/

They are in Fairfield and I've seen them prepping reclaimed boards. My dealings with them have been good.

WOW thanks for that website, that is an absolute Gem  [big grin] they are about 1 1/2 hours away from me and it actually looks like they have my shiplap for 1.45/sq.ft. which is incredible. Their lumber prices are good too especially for cherry! Thanks!!!

I have the CMT T&G v-grove carbide cutter set and have milled thousands of feet of Oak and other woods with it on my small Rockwell/Delta Shaper.  I have several cutter sets from CMT and they cut like a charm.
