How do you guys clean up the fine dust on your finished projects?

Sorry I missed your question Ron.

There must be several ways to reduce the tendency of the handle to move while using the brush but the tape method is easy to apply and is reversible if you find you need to change the angle as when dusting the top of a tall cabinet.

The Meile attachments fit the tool end of Festool hoses pretty well. I do have to re-snug the brush after a lot of use and if it does fall off it isn't heavy or hard enough to cause much damage to whatever it falls on.

I use this brush attachment for fine work cleanup. I find that there are two advantages: the bristles seem softer than on the standard round brushes; the larger size and shape make for fewer passes on surfaces, which reduces the likelihood of scratching. If I still feel like there is superfine static dust clinging to a stain grade or clear grade finish surface, I will do a wipe with either a thinner rag or a damp rag - any lint free quality rag will do. I have gotten away from standard tack cloths because they can leave some stickiness on surfaces which I dont want for final finish application.

+1 on this vac brush. I brush and run my hand after it ...or, brush and then use a microfiber cloth from Bed, Bath, and Beyond along with a spritz of citrus solvent.

Hmmm....  Sam's Club sells a 50-pack for about the same price as the two from Festool.  Just saying...

I use the microfiber cloths for all kinds of things. They are the best for cleaning eyewear and for dusting.  Never without one close by. (I'm looking at one on my desk here right now that I use for cleaning my macbook pro screen.)  I think that microfiber is the ultimate solution for the original poster's question.  [2cents]

Thanks, Dick

I do blow out my garage shop from time to time with a leaf blower, but never before finish.

Bill Murray style  [thumbs up]

Is there a particular brand / type of microfiber cloth you are using?

Seth

I get the microfiber cloths from CostCo in a (surprise!) big bag.  Here's the CostCo.com link.  Like Michael commented, those other ones are better for raw wood.  These cloths have enough nap to get caught up in some of the rough spots.  I don't worry about it much since I don't usually use them on raw wood.  Between coats on a finish, though, they work well.

I get looks when I blow out the garage with the leaf blower.  Do it late Monday night and get the pile just off the curb cuz around 6 am Tuesday morning, the street sweeper picks it up.  booyah...

Late at night!
You must be very popular with your neighbours.  [thumbs up]

(From your videos, the ones with your garage door open, I have assumed that you live in a suburban area.)

Oh there are trees... palm trees... in my front yard.  Leaf blower isn't so bad, but I still make sure I use it before 10 pm so nobody can complain. Only person who could complain, though, puts a yappy dog outside at 7:30 am and leaves him there, yapping non-stop, until 9:30 pm and they typically set off their own car alarm 3 times a week getting into the car.  Once and unprecedented 3 times in a row.  They wouldn't be in a good place to complain :)

Our city has a barking dog law for the inconsiderate people that do that kind of thing. I had a neighbor that left three pit bulls in the side yard all day barking and fighting.  I finally went to the city's online site and printed the ordinance and put it on their front step.  They got the message real fast.
