How do you store parts/fasteners?

I'm in heavy with the Milwaukee bins. About 20+ of them. One thing that would be really nice - a clip adapter to throw a stack of these on a systainer. IF you lock more than 4 of these they get really heavy fast, but the think I really like is you can open each one while they are still latched together.
The old style Lboxx can't do that. (the brand new ones can apparently).
Systainers obviously can, but they are literally 4 or 5 times the price.
My local Home Depot has them for $19 on occasion, so I buy a few at a time.
the NEW packout system is apparently taking over. I don't know how much longer they'll sell these deep bin organizers.

I've become a big fan of the Milwaukee 10 compartment deep organizer.

They stack like Systainers and the removable trays are easily reorganized.

I buy them at Home Depot for $25 each.

Tekbench, I too use the Milwaukee parts bins.  I just wish they had an adaptor that would allow connection to the new packouts which I have been buying as I like them better despite the price tariff but I only buy them on sale usually from Acme Tool.

I've invested in quick a few L-Boxx when I see them pop up on Craigslist - the last set I bought was from a college lab professor witch came with 3 L-BOXX-1A with 13 inserts - these are fantastic, but I wouldn't buy them new given the price, form factor ( a bit clunky for small parts), and if I wasn't already using this system.

I would absolutely buy the L-BOXX-3D with the thin drawer and thick drawer. This is my most grabbed case witch holds an impact/drill combo up top and the majority of the fasteners/bits I'd need. Getting off topic, but all these cases have held up really well and containers don't shift or throw parts everywhere - great for mobile and serve me well for hobby carpentry.

Looking for containers with a bit more capacity, I just stumbled across this bundle set which seem pretty reasonable.

The large case butterflyies open and the container size(s) look perfect for more than a handful of longer screws for decks/framing (2.5-3.5"). It also has eye holes for wall hanging up or down. The hardware case looks perfect for electrical connectors. Not sure I would use it, but the belt clips on the containers is a nice idea. Wonder how they hold up given more moving parts. On that note: these FastCap Power Mags are a real game changer. Years on my impact through dirt and drops - pricey but on several of my drills now. Similar to Festool, you have buyers remorse until you use it..

You can get Scotch extreme mounting tape (Canadian Tire or HD) and attach a large rare earth magnet or more to your drill.

But will it cost you $22 ?

Much less. Tape is about $7 Cdn, long enough for 30 to 40 drills (1" tape per drill, say). Just add the cost of one to two 1" rare earth magnets per drill. I've been using this kind of trick for years.

I figured as much, I was making a funny. :-)

$22 for a magnet and some double stick tape is highway robbery.

Another vote for Plano 3700 boxes! I'm a shop-based hobbyist so I don't need to throw things in a van or around a jobsite, which probably makes a big difference. I buy the ProLatch boxes at Canadian Tire - I love that they are modular and all sorta fit together. If you aren't picky about optics you can get a plano bag that they fit neatly within - it'll just have fish on it rather than a tool name :)

I too found that the dividers pop out easily... a dab or two of CA fixes that easily, and it's not so much that you can't pull it out if you need to. The things come with so many dividers that I have more than I will probably ever need! I also find that I don't really move them, ever, because once I find a place for the hardware, that's where it goes.

In the attached pic, each of those is holding a full pack of 50/100 pcs, so they really are the right size. I have one for #6/8, one for #10/12 of both pan head and countersink, a box for 1/4-20 and 5/16 hardware, and a few for random parts. I have other random holders that I bought infrequently at LV which, by the time I needed more, LV had discontinued... so I kinda swore off the specialized stuff in favor of a more universal system that was likely to stick around!

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of the Plano organizers, their sizes, maximum/minimum number of compartments (and the sizes of the compartments) and availability of accessories/holders?

their website has a good amount of info! "Pro-Latch" are the minimum I would consider for fasteners/tools, the original uses a latch system that wouldn't hold under deformation of heavy stuff.
https://www.planomolding.com/fishing/stowaway-utility-boxes/prolatch

The sizes work with each other - so the 3700 has a regular, thin, deep, and half-size version which all work together (14" module). 3600 has its own design and full/half size (11" module). Unfortunately I don't recall seeing an "overview" that would show the various sizes and options all in one place.

I use the 'small' metal Durham ones. I have two stacks of 6. Lots of internal divider options to pick from. Made in USA of sheet metal.

I also have a bunch of their plastic ones which I use for electronics parts as well as LEGOs. They're pretty good too. I'm not sure I would trust them full of washers or something heavy though.

I usually buy from zoro.com using a coupon. ~$150 per stack.

Cabela's sells them and I found this link that shows some of the sizes.

I hope this helps!

[member=67145]Dusty.Tools[/member] - did you order these direct from Auer? How do you like them?

I mostly use a mix of the Festool SYS-Box Systainers, some Auer Boxes for Electronics stuff and a couple of the „clear“ Sortiment boxes shown in other posts above.

I like the Systainers with the colored boxes the most.
Best to carry and fitting to the stacks.
Although the Auer boxes are also quite nice with the clear lids...

I’m very happy so far, really no complaints to be honest. If I lived in the EU I would highly recommend trying them out.

I wrote a review up on ToolGuyd:

Getting them to the US is a pain. I use my brother to forward them on from the UK but shipping adds 40% to the cost! But Auer will then refund the tax. They still end up being a good price when compared to the alternatives.

And here’s how I’m going to label each box:

This is how I label my Auers: A number and a bit of text that makes sense to me. All in vinyl.
Also: everything in the boxes is inventoried in a spreadsheet that 'lives' on an iPad in the shop.

Note that some are not numbered yet. It is an evolving situation (in flux…).
