How do you store the CMS modules and their accessories?

I have seen the Festool CMS storage rack (451975), but don't have space for something that tall.

I'll be building a storage shelf system under my stairs next summer so I could easily make dadoes to slide the face plates into a smallish space above my CTL 26, but since the CMS-TS55 has the angle stop fence & height adjuster that will be floating around and the CMS-OF has a heavy fence & the alternative curved piece shroud that would not be bolted to the faceplate at all times I was wondering would these largish parts & the related screws, clamps, height adjusters, etc. fit into a Maxi Systainer?

I'll most likely keeping my saw & router mainly in their own systainers for manual use and only bolt them to the CMS-modules if I have a specific need for table sort of work. Unless of course, I find myself working mainly in table mode  [embarassed]

Has anyone tried this and maybe even made inserts for one?

Bizarrely, I called Festool UK about exactly this the other day. The OF fence does not fit in a maxi systainer. I keep the fences on a shelf, and all the OF 1400 accessories such as edge guides, dust shrouds, screws, base plates, rods etc. in a sys 2.

It's not ideal but at least nothing is going to get lost. I keep the router in it's original systainer, but there is now nothing else in there.

The Festool storage rack for CMS uses an aluminium profile that seems too small. It makes the entire frame feel very flimsy. I like the idea of the frame, but not the execution. I'd be inclined to do something that follows the thinking, but with a larger profile for a bit more strength. (In Oz the prices works out to be silly money for a few lengths of aluminium and some wheels).

Could you fit a trolley style frame that was just for two modules and a work top?

I'm surprised there isn't a frame/chassis that has the active CMS unit setup, with storage for the not in use module below ... that way you could have two such units and cover all four modules .. plus they'd be ready to use.

Hi all

I am resurrecting this thread as I have come up with a solution to getting all of the OF accessories into a Maxi. Quite simple really with the use of Kaizen foam and just removing the left hand fence which only requires loosening two thumb screws. It only takes 30 seconds to put it back together. I also did the same with the feather board part to get it in.

I have also done similar with the ts55 accessories using the Kaizen foam as well,have also added my storage solutions for dogs and MFT clamps.

Hope this might help anyone that wants to do something similar

I came up with a box that I use for transporting my various CMS parts, originally posted here in a similar thread:

I've since added "D" handles to the top of the box, positioned 90 degrees to the front (not parallel to the front and back) to make it easier to lift and carry, spaced so that 3 stacks of systainers can sit on top if needed.

Thanks a lot Robin. Very impressive. I've bought two Maxi Sytainers (the smaller and the larger one) as well as two XXL Systainers (the smaller 237 and the larger 337) to store my CMS gear. I do occasionally move my CMS between projects but I also need a way to tuck everyting neatly away when not setting up shop in the garage. I've saved your pictures to use as inspiration for my own future foam cutting project.

I'm using the smaller XXL 237 for the Y-hose and the XXL 337 for the fences. The guide rail of the ST sliding table lives in a FS Bag (the bag for the guide rails). However, I have not yet finalized my layout and no foam is added.

I've found that they are just bit too large to actually fit without modding the case. Do your store the module plates inside the Systainers and if so, did you cut away any of the reinforcement "ridges" in the lid or on the sides of the Systainer?

I use spur shelving to store my CMS modules. The large 12" arms on the shelving fit the modules perfect  the Festool modules or the modules I made to set on
