If things don't change I will be heading stateside around June next year. Going back my house hold goods including tools must go through a agricultural inspection.

That means no oraganic material, wood chips, dust ect on the tools or in the systainers.

Cleaning the tools though time consuming is easy, wipe them down with dentures alcohol clean out the sys, close the lid. At that time I'll be recording the serial numbers , model number and taking photos of the tools, accessories etc.

So in this light what is the best way to clean a long life bag? I have 2 of them.
I was thinking of sucking the dust, wood chips out, after emptying ( I still have another bag that I can use and toss) then blowing it out with compressed air and maybe running them through the wash.

Anyone else have a better idea?

Thanks

Pack the vac-bags in your luggage and send the cleaned vacuum in a shipment.

I reckon you're on the money ... inside out in the washer sounds perfect.

Having cleaned them, it may still be less hassle to post them home to avoid everything being held up on inspection.

You can put the LL bag in the washing machine. But I would just hand wash it. This way you've got more control over the entire process.

Hi Ron

The washing sounds like a great idea but first I would turn it inside out and vacuum off the worst of the debris and trapped dust. That way there is less work for the washer to do.

See you at D&M as usual?

Why is it that I can see Alex as an early adopter for the voice control washing machine? Hmmm?

Given the reason you want to clean them in the first place, it might make sense to sell them on and either send new ones back or buy new ones in the US (depending on relative cost). Then at least you can be sure they'll pass inspection without issue.

Me, 43, bought my first washing machine two months ago. I'm gonna think about the next one when I'm 65.  [tongue]

Thanks guys,  didn't think about hand washing them. So when the time comes I'll put the disposable bag in my 26 suck a,lithe dust out of the LL bag for the 26 and 22 then hand wash hang dry, that should do it.

Talking to a guy who is leaving early next month he said the inspection isn't as bad as he first thought. But when my time comes I'm going to inventory photo and clean so no worries..

Yes, I think that hand washing is a good option.

When I lived in Chicago my place was the Valois on 53rd in Hyde Park.  Great, cheap breakfast served by cook who would yell at you if you took too long to order, and who though nothing of smoking his cigarette basically right over the food.

We were on holiday in our caravan staying at Camp Derby in Italy - this will test those who think they know the Italian holiday hot spots !

My son was about 8 years old and had to witness Sergeant Wilson instructing the the lady serving his ice cream "special" to put the whole can of "squirty" cream (sorry - I do not know its proper name) on top. Luckily the ammunition dump caught fire before my son persuaded us to order the same. The danger area was about 3 miles radius and our caravan was just over 1 mile away. Luckily we were told that we would be safe (I think because there was no evacuation plan for the campers). I hope Sergeant Wilson survived.
