How to Replace Handle on Systainer

Hey guys I just picked up a Festool attic lid but did not order the handle with it. I'll be taking the existing handle off one of my Festool systainers and putting it on the attic lid.

I cannot get this thing of. I'm looking at the lid without the handle and it doesn't seem like there's much to the design so apparently I'm missing something.

Can I get some tips and also on how to detach and reattach the lid to the box?

Hi,

Stand the handle upright.  Place a 1" driver bit (just the bit), or something similar , up tight to the bottom of the handle where it attaches. Then fold the handle flat and push down hard.  One side will pop free and then the other side will come off easily. To reattach just place it on top of the mounting points in the flat position  and press down until it snaps in. Reattaching may need a mallet to smack it down. This works well I have done it a bunch of times.

I think there is a video somewhere on FOG of someone taking a systainer apart which shows all you need if you can find it.

Yeah,  If anyone would know how to take a systainer apart it would be the king of systainers, Seth.    [cool]    [big grin]

The bit trick works often, but not always, so be careful. I've had a couple of occasions where the bit cracked the lid instead of popping out the handle.

I now put a thin piece (0,5 mm) of sheet metal underneath.

Good idea  [thumbs up]

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I made the change last night and today I get to set up the systainer how I want it... to house my CXS and T18.

Please post some photos of how it turns out, keep thinking about putting my CXS and PDC together in one systainer.
