how to save interesting threads? for future reference and watching.
on other forums there is a subscribe option that is very useful.  i can not find this option here. thoughts? or am i just an idiot?

the only way I know how is to either reply to the thread and then go look at your posts afterwards.

or use the notify button beside reply.
to find it  then go to my profile. then summary, then modify profile. then notifications.
its very long winded but it is their but buried a bit,
maybe it is something that need a few tweaks to make it more visible

I think if you start to reply and then cancel, it will notify you. Apparently, the trigger is tripped when you bring up the reply screen even if you cancel.

I actually bookmark the http link and give a name I can relate to at slatted date. This has worked well for me.

Depending on your browser - have the bookmark tool bar displayed.  Create a folder in the toolbar and then just grab the url (very start of it) and drag it to the folder

Just click the 'Notify' button on the thread. It will send notification of new posts. But it will also keep the thread in a list under the notifications in your profile. So if you want to view the threads you have saved you can pop into your profile for the list, and the listed threads are also links directly to the threads.

all great suggestions. i will use the notification list. i access the web from many different locations and i like having a site log that is not computer dependent.

it does seem odd that other forums the is just a subscribe tab.

The subscribe tab is the "Notify" tab.

I have a word document, into which I copy the thread title, under which I make my own comments about the thread contents.
For me this is important, because the thread title, so often, does not indicate accurately what the thread is about; plus the contents of threads can meander about - sometimes alarmingly  :o
Also have seperate lists for specific tools/accessories, and, another list for products/services/companies.
If I want to re-visit a thread, I just use FOG search using the thread title.
I use "OCMC File Scanner" to search within the document as necessary.

I too prefer a "subscribe" button vs. a notify. The notify just tends to clog your email inbox, whereas the "subscribe" button doesn't have to give you notifications but stores all the threads you follow in one place on the forum or app. If you go dark for six months and return to the forum, you ca go to your subscribed threads and easily find  new posts to your subscribed list right in your subscribed tab.

Seems like It would be a simple add-on to the fog which would help a lot of folksy hi in typical woodworker fashion are finding workarounds or "jigs" if you will with browser bookmarks, word docs, Evernote, etc.

I wish they would add a true "subscribe" button as well.

Aaah, OK I see the difference you are talking about now.

Subscribe isn't a function of this forum software unfortunately.

You can just drop a reply in that says "subscribed" and use the replies link on top of the page though, to the dismay of those who like clean forums.  [embarassed]
