How to sell my MFT 1080?

No luck moving this elephant. I tried eBay, FOG, the local wood club, price adjustments . . . not crazy about Craig.

The eBay listing @ $400 starting bid was probably overpriced.  I limited the deal to local pickup only because it apparently exceeded the UPS shipping calculator limit. I subsequently reduced the starting bid to $349.  Had 8 watchers but no bids.

I didn't include much detail in the FOG listing because most know what I'm selling. I had one FOG nibble, but he didn't want to pay packaging/shipping, which is high due to size and weight.

Latest FOG classified listing about Sept 13 is for $300 and includes several pix.

Thx in advance for ideas.

Maybe strike up a deal with a local Festool retailer to put it on display and take a predetermined cut (consignment fee) for the sale or maybe offer you store credit from the sale?

I would just stick it out. It will sell, but in these times it is just going to take a bit longer. I would not go much lower than 300.00 if that includes everything. I know I got 250.00 for one and it did not include the fence system or anything else, just the table, top and legs. Of course that was a while back.

I would bump it maybe once a week or put the listing in your signature and just make a few posts a day to keep it visible, it's going to sell at 300.00 sooner or later.

This is just a thought.  Why don't you sell only the parts, without the top.
Reduce the price to 300 without the top, shipment won't be as problematic and new user can buy a new top.

I don't know if this will work, but just a thought!

I know you said you are not crazy about Craigs List, but I have to tell you I have met some very nice people both selling and buying. Half the time we end up talking for an hour or two about wood working and related stuff. In fact, one guy, who bought my MFT, was talking for almost 90 minutes. We started talking about how nice our wives were for putting up with us when he said, "Mines in the truck." I was blown away, the poor woman was out there for 90 minutes while we talked about every wood working subject on the planet!!! Of course, I went out and offered her a drink, coffee, use of the facilities... but she just shook her head at her crazy husband. He was a character.

Any way, I really don't think you will get scam artists with a Festool ad. Try it out.

I've bought and sold tools on craigslist with no problems. The only precaution that I took was meeting the guy who bought my mitre saw in a gas station because I didn't want him to come to my shop and see all my Festools!
