Has anyone got the best way to sharpen zobo bits? What do you use, technique etc. After years of a disposable attitude to drill bits(drawer full of cheap rusting relics) these need attention shortly. Mine are not dull yet just not as crisp as they first where. Thanks.

Take them to a sharpening service?  The ZOBOs are nice bits.  When its time to re-sharpen mine I'll take them to the guys who sharpen saw blades and router bits.

Bump. Having attended the recent FFX tool show, none of the guys at the Festool stand could give advice on sharpening these bits. Anyone?

I hit a screw with one of mine a couple of months ago - I was pretty upset as you can imagine but it was easy to sort out.

There are instructions with the drills that show honing angles and so on but I just used my eye. First pop out the centre pin and then hold the drill in a vice or chuck or whatever suits you. I then used a small diamond file and gently touched up the surfaces. Everything is honed flat, unlike Forstners, and so it is quite easy.

I do not claim to have made a perfect job of this but I do know that it has made a big difference to the cut quality. I have, as yet, not asked my sharpening service guy how much he would charge for a Zobo but will do next time the saw blades go in.

Thanks Peter. That's more information than I have managed so far. These drills are so good and easy to use in a battery drill that they get used for every thing a spade bit would do and a lot more. Just installed 15 doors and installing tube latches, handles and strike plates is a doddle. I have a fine diamond file so I think I will touch them up and see how it goes
Kind regards

Hi Jools
We met up at the show in Kent last weekend and i promised to get the information so here it is. Not the best copy as the paper is very small.
