I am not the sharpest crayon in the box.  I have an OF 1400 router and the FS 1400 guide rails.  Today I received the edge guide  492 601.  It came in a plain box with no isntructtion.  I know it should be evident but I guess I am thick headed.

Could someone please direct me to instructions on  how to set up and how to use the 492 601 with my router?

Does the base of the router sit partially on the guide rail?  If so, would not that tip and unbalance the router?

DISREGARD-  I get it now!!  Thanks for the help.

There is a leveling foot on the 1400 to stabilize and keep the base parellal to the work surface when on the rail.

As Tom said, you need to use the levelling foot to raise the router to the guide rail height. Or you can buy the table widening base which is I what I use. (Its price is going to be reduced heavily after February 1st fyi.)

You can use only one guide stop if you wish but if you plan on using the micro-adjust, fit the stop furthest from the router on the rail, with the nearest stop in between the furthest stop and the router. Tighten the knob on the nearest stop. Use the micro-adjust on the furthest stop to line up the router exactly where you want it (there are indentations on the router base in line with the centre of the bit) and then tighten the knob on the furthest guide stop.

Unlike when using the rail for the TS55, it is advisable to clamp the rail to the workpiece. I like to push the router along with one hand on the guide stop running on the rail and one hand on the router. The usual rules about moving the router in the correct direction apply.
