How would you like a free Kapex?

One of these times I am bound to win.

I am going to have the old lady and kids sign up too. [big grin]

I hope someone that really deserves it wins it. Someone that's been down on their luck.

I hope it's not a "Here you are Mr Millionaire, you've just won a new Porsche ... Why thank you, I'm so lucky and so blessed ..." outcome.

Maybe next time you could give it to a charity for a raffle? Then members here could buy tickets.

I am sending my grandma an email to sign up too.

I need one to keep in the house too. [big grin]

Hello Shane,
Why is it that Quebec residents are always excluded from the sweepstakes you offer.  Our money is not good enough for you?

This has been discussed before. The same reason a lot of contested even from with in Canada aren't available to Quebec, your provincial government puts too many obstacles in the way and too many hoops to jump through for many corporations to run even free giveaways.

Demetrius,

As was stated, this has been discussed on the forum before and it's because of the laws and requirements for sweepstakes, giveaways, etc. in the province of Quebec. It's not that we don't want to offer it to Quebec residents, it's that the laws in place are prohibitive.

FYI, This form doesn't submit on my iPhone.

Chris, just tried it on my iPhone 4s, IOS 5 and it worked fine using the built in Safari browser. There's nothing "special" about the sign up form that should create any browser compatibility issues. Did you fill out all three form fields (full name, email address and "I use power tools for...")? If not, there is form validation that requires all three fields and you should have gotten a red error message for the field(s) that weren't completed.

Edit: Plus, I just looked and see you in the entry database at 9:10am ET assuming you didn't go to a computer to enter after trying on your phone.

I just checked with our prime minister and she said she'd quite happy for you to send a KAPEX here to me in Sydney ...

But none of that 110v rubbish - we use "real man's electricity" downunder ...

[big grin]

It will be a hassle [unsure], but I guess  ??? that I could reorganize my woodworking shed in order to find a place to put a Kapex.  [big grin]

Yes, I would like a free Kapex, thank you Shane!  Please ship to my address you have on file...

Feel good story: My son's baseball team was raffling off a 50" flat screen last summer for a fund-raiser.  We had the drawing in a local establishment and called the guy who won.  He came to pick it up 20 minutes later, had tears in his eyes and told us he's had just gotten divorced, his ex-wife took everything, and he was watching the Bulls playoff game on an old 13" TV.  He had overheard one of the coaches a week earlier talking about the raffle and asked if he could buy one of the $5 tickets.  Everyone was happy he won.

One of our sweepstakes winners from a few months was a recent cancer survivor and had only just begun to get back into woodworking. Always good to hear that the winner will appreciate and put the prize(s) to good use. I try to take the opportunity to reach out to and talk to our sweepstakes winners and hear their stories and what they do with tools.

My wife, youngest son and I went to an Indiana Ice hockey game last weekend. My son wanted to go check out the merchandise store they have there. As we entered, they were selling raffle tickets. I asked for one and then quickly said "and give me one for my son too and make sure it's a winner". Nearing the end of the game, they called the numbers for two winners and the second ticket I bought was a winner. I'm not saying that I was in the position of your TV winner by any stretch, but my son reacted like he had just won the Super Bowl. He was so excited and it was awesome to witness. He talked about the (VERY LARGE) jersey he won all the way home from the game and every day since then. I think that may have been the first thing I've ever won like that.

Hello Shane,
Why is it that Quebec residents are always excluded from the sweepstakes you offer.  Our money is not good enough for you?

Quebec has some of the highest consumer protection laws in NA.  One of them revolves around ensuring that contests run are not a sham and winners get their just rewards.  At least that's what I learned 25 years ago taking marketing.

I've cut and pasted this from a post I made previously in another thread from about a year ago.  Honestly, you can hardly blame Festool.  Most companies that are not Quebec based do this.  As a matter of fact some companies will just outright exclude all of Canada rather than just exclude Quebec, which is a real bummer for all us non-Quebec resident Canadians.  Note the section in bold aside from all the other stipulations.  Basically, you have to put up collateral of the prize(s) you are offering.

Doing a quick search on the internet, I did find this:

Quebec with almost one third of the population of Canada is often not included in any contests. Indeed, it has to do with charity and contest laws in the province of Quebec. When planning national contests, companies are confronted with a unique set of rules and regulations in order to include Quebec. The Regie des Loteries et Courses du Quebec requires long preparation times and fees for approval. As a result a great number of national contests promoted by national brands exclude the province of Quebec. To shed some light on the issue, we have contacted the government agency responsible for slot machines, horse races, lotteries, sweepstakes and contests in Quebec. The following is a list of required steps in order to accomplish the impossible, get a sweepstakes approved in this unique Canadian province. The rules of a publicity contest must be accessible to the public and must include as a minimum:

·The conditions for entering the contest
·The places where the public must deposit or send the contest entry forms
·The deadline for entering the contest
·A description of the method of awarding the prizes
·The place, date and time the prizewinner will be named
·The media used to inform the winners of the prizes won
·The place, date and deadline for claiming prizes, or where applicable, whether the prizes will be delivered to the winner
·The information about how a jury will select the winners
·The nature of the skill-testing requirement that a winner has to satisfy in order to claim his prize
·A person for whom a publicity contest is carried on shall furnish security to the board where:

1)He has a head office or place of business in Quebec declared in accordance with the laws of Quebec
2)He has not been convicted of an offence against the Act or these Rules in that year precede the date of the launching of the publicity contest
3)That the value of a prize offered to Quebec residents is more than $ 100

It is recommended for companies wishing to offer contests and sweepstakes in Quebec to contact the Regie des Loteries et Courses du Quebec by visiting their website at www.racj.gouv.qc.ca

Meanwhile, until Quebec loosens its rules and regulations, a good site to enter contests valid and legal in Quebec is Quebec Concours located at: www.quebecconcours.com
There, you will find an extensive list of games, contests, sweepstakes, lotteries and surveys that pay participants. The site is a free resource for all Quebecois residents.

I don't think I've ever seen a drawing whose rules allowed Canadian residents to enter but did not exclude Quebec.  This is hardly unique to Festool.
