I figured out where Festool got the idea for the systrainer

I would sit inside every Saturday and rub everything with the softest baby diapers I could find if I owned that thing. ;D

The first time I saw that was on the front of a Lee Valley catalog awhile back and my first though was, no, "I" am not really so anal, at least compared to that fellow! But you have to marvel at the intelligent and careful organization that Mr. Studley came up with in his wonderful tool cabinet. And not only is the case nice, but the tools are exquisite, too.

Amazing, I too have seen this on LV cover but never knew much apart from that snapshot.
Can you immagine Mr. Studley's house? Sheesh...

Mr Studley was a piano maker and many of the pieces used to build the cabinet were scraps or ivory and such. The cabinet is at the Smithsonian institute I believe

I tried to make one without the ivory and it turned out well although I have nowhere near the amount of tools Mr Studley had.

Wouldn't it be ironic if it was completely dishevelled.  ;)

Has anyone seen Norm build his version of the tool cabinet?  He made a visit to where the case resides.  I don't know why I recall this but I thought he said it was in a private collection??  Anyway...as always, he built his version of the tool cabinet...I have wanted to build one ever since....

It is owned by a private collector but it is loaned to the Smithsonian from time to time. I'd like to see it in person. It would be like getting an education in awsometricularunobtanium.  ;D I think I could study that for weeks for the shear pleasure. I'd like to see a Piano he made too.
