I read a recent reply Seth made in another topic about combining domino with pocket hole....I've been thinking about it and today had chance to use on a beech frame. It worked sweet! Check it out.

I have never used the method in a miter like that. Looks good.  Certainly beats trying to clamp a miter.

Not too long ago, I bought some Dubuque face-frame and shelf clamps. One of the options for those clamps was a mitre attachment that works quite well. Of course, there's a considerable price difference between the Dubuque mitre attachment and a pocket screw, but the Dubuque is faster to use.  :)

nice! saves clamping time and space. i don't really like pocket holes, but i use them all the time...
did the joint shift any as the screw tightened or does the tenon hold it 100% in place?

out of habit I clamped first joint, then I eliminated clamp. Definitely the tenons prevented any joint slippage commonly associated with pocket hole screws.

my supplier has those clamps and I've been interested in them in the past. Maybe I'll give them a try, thanks for tip.

Nice (I bet I can guess what thread you were talking about  [big grin]).  Did you glue the joint or just use the screw?

Yes to glue...I had wood shop teacher ,years ago,who was insisting that if you only glue one side of workpiece you lose 50% of joints strength. I'm skeptical about his claim but for some reason it stuck with me,and I always put glue on both surfaces to be joined.

[eek] That.Is.Brilliant.

You might have just pushed me over the edge to buy a domino  [tongue]

I have been dreaming about this combo ever since i got my pocket hole kit.  i guess it is time ti get the other missing piece.  well and the vac to go with.  Well and the assortment, oh and a domi plate.

Does the Domino in any way suffer from the same issues a biscuit joiner where the piece don't always register perfectly? I think this is my biggest hangup with biscuits.

Dave,

Pretty cool idea buddy.

If I had a butt load of miters to do heres a nice clamp Ive been meaning to get to try.

Steve (Fatroman) had a set of these and loved them.

I can using these clamp along with dominos to make some awesome miter joints

They aient exactly cheap but their small light weight and easy to use on site

Here is a article by Jim Chestnut on building Radius cabinets. Though not festool, I thought this is a awesome and easy photo description of what I would think is a very difficult tedious cabinet build complete with how to make the forms.
