I had my kapex stolen at the beginning of the year and was absolutely gutted and after messing about with the insurance company trying to claim  they eventually refused to replace the saw and I was gutted as work had been a bit slow this year and I didn't have the money to replace it with another kapex and was going to end up buying some cheaper dew alt or makita saw.
Anyway someone told me about the new tool for stolen tool that festool offered on tools still under warranty.
I looked into it and sent all the relevant details off to my festool dealer.
2 days later I got a call from the dealer "your replacement kapex is ready for shipping to you we just need the £100 for the replacement plus shipping costs and we will get it out too you"
I now have a brand new saw for £100 plus shipping costs.
I am so happy now festool have excelled themselves this time and I will never complain about the extortionate accesorries prices ever again.
Top top service hats off to festool you have a customer for life.

Festool tools expensive ?  no they are worth every penny with a service like that.

Just need to mount it on my dewalt  stand now and paint the stand green obviously

THANK YOU FESTOOL YOU HAVE RAISED THE BAR AGAIN

REally???? They did that???? [scared]

The stolen tool replacement is not a program offered in the US/Canada.

And, we love you too. [big grin]

They sure did what an amazing service that is.  for me they are on a par with apple Inc. Customer service  which has to be used to be believed.
you couldn't expect anything better could you.

And on the bonus side I do not have to buy a cheaper dewalt or makita replacement  that would completely ruin my tools colour scheme lol.

Quite possibly one of the most remarkable warranty programs I've ever heard of.  That's unreal.

Within reason, I would pay for that program.
If Festool added that as an additional option at purchase I would take it.

Sucks when a tool gets stolen and you spend hours getting the paperwork together for the insurance company and then have to wait to get reimbursed.

Outstanding customer service. That's up there with the best.

Now if only they offered a Festool for Dewalt replacement service, I could leave my trunk open and look the other way for a few hours!

I wouldn't just yet.  I have heard many story's about tool theft's and it seems the dumb thieves will walk right past stacks of systainers and such to get to those yellow and blue colored tools.

My GL policy covers all my tools and machinery.  All I do is take a picture and write down the SN and give it to my insurance agent.
If something ever gets stolen, I get a check for full replacement value.

Sure, I pay a little more for this insurance but, having tools stolen is like stealing food out of my fridge.  My family depends on my hands and my tools to pay the bills.

I guess that with those extreme high mark ups they have they can afford a service like that once in a while.

You aint had your kapex long then. You must of bought it some time this year.  Cus from what I read only tools bought from 2011 onwards qualify the  STOLEN FOR NEW warranty and not before which I am gutted about lol cus about 80% of my tools where before 2011.

The stolen for new only lasts as long as the warranty so 3 yrs

It's a great service and i have it on all my festools except the kapex, it takes some of the stress away of having high value tools. That didn't stop me though from placing a vault-type double steel pin with a cross-figured key lock on my workshop door which by the way is 12cm thick. Well if you count the 10cm of insulation inside  [tongue] .

It's good to hear them paying out though and it is an incredible warranty whatever you pay for accessories. All my stuff is covered apart from my jigsaw which is a comforting feeling. I guess they had to do it though as I have heard a lot of reports of site workers in particular refusing to buy Festool even though they want it because it is so nickable. Imagine not even being able to go to the toilet without having to lock all your tools in a site box. Any informed tea leaf knows that they will get three quarters of the new value on Ebay. That's why some pros use Ryobi as they know it's going to get nicked and they can't insure it on an open site.

Damn, that's sounds rough. The job is demanding enough without worrying about criminals on the jobsite. My local dealer had to run cables through their tools after some *person* stole a Rotex and a OF1010 right off the shelf in the middle of the day- then had the nerve to go a few blocks down to the next dealer and hit him also.
First thing I do is engrave my info on the tools I buy, in at least 2 places- one clearly visible, one totally concealed. Some insurance companies will loan out quality engravers for their clients on demand.

In the USA some credit card companies will take out policy for purchases.  If these items are stolen within a few months of purchase they will replace them after you file the paperwork.

WCC is right tho, if you depend on your tools as a livelihood call your insurance agent and get a rider on your tools.  It is not that much more.

I would agree with Tim :)

These hide neatly under the systainer insert.

I have only 2 of them,  but if I HAVE to leave my tools, I make sure to leave a Systainer open with a tool visible (which has 1 under the insert)
the rest of the systainers stacked together with a cable locked around everything.

-the other nano is epoxied under my Kapex,  and with Festools being as unique as they are,  if you turn my saw over,  the thing does not look like anything out of the ordinary...
