Does anyone have any recommendation on a laminate trimmer that I could use to trim edge banding on melamine shelving. I have a lot to do and was looking for a power tool instead of using a sharp blade.
Thanks,

The 700 works great. I did all the shelves in my house in short order with virtually no dust.

Concur on the MFK 700.  Combine it and the Amana No-File bit and you're going to be in hog heaven.  Since I bought mine, the older DeWalt laminate trimmer has been gathering dust in the shop.  Guess I'll sell it soon.

Do we have a source for this bit?

well, any little laminate trimmer with a bearing trim bit will do for some ordinary melamine shelves, but the MFK700 is an exceptional tool that can nearly eliminate "oopsies" in trimming work where the stakes are higher.  There's also an accessory for the little festool of1010 router that allows it to mimic the function of the MFK with a right angle plate that rides on the surface of the work helping the operator to keep the router under control.

Virutex makes the FR292- Tiltable trimmer, which is similar to the MFK in some ways.

For everyday laminate trimming type operations with a bearing bit I use a Porter Cable 7310 but I do not especially recommend it.  Bit changes are knuckle-busters, height adjustment is awkward and some users have complained of the bases being out of square to the collet.  The older Porter Cable 310 production trimmers are said to be quite good, but only available second hand.

There's a "Where To Buy" button on the Amana website.  You can also order through Amazon.com.

I trim miles, literally miles of edge bending. I use the MFK 700 with the dedicated Festool bits.

My personal preference is no guide bearing on the bit. I've had it leave marks. If a bearing locks the piece is ruined.

Good luck on getting the Conturo. I tried very hard to be a test subject, did not happen.

EDIT, if you do use a bearing bit spray the melamine with furniture polish.

I would like to get the 491670 bit for the 700. I have the 45 deg. Bit that has the replaceable cutters and it works great.
