Yesterday I saw a Contruo Edge Bander in person. Saul from Festool was demoing it at the Sommerset NJ woodworking show. If you are in the NYC area and want to check one out, the show is all weekend.

Boy was it nice. I don't do enough edge banding to justify owning one, but I dare say this tool will be another game changer. Much like what the Domino did to mortise and tenon joinery and the biscuit world. Festool did their research and needs analysis on this one.

I can't wait to hear what the pros who edge band every day have to say.

+1 I saw it at the Somerset show on Sat. Pretty cool but I don't do enough edge banding to make it worthwhile to me. I suspect pros will love it though. The table was a nice setup too.
Festool never sits back on their laurels... Always something to improve.

Well, I wouldn't call it a game changer, there are several handheld gluepot edgebanders that have been on the market for years.  They all seem to be in the same ball park for price and specs.  Virutex and Felder have them and there are others.  You can get different colored pellets.

One thing for sure, the Conturo is coolest looking one, for what that's worth.
