I was a mini before i saw a workstation

So I have been thinking about going with a festool mini vacuum and pairing it with a dust deputy. Walked into woodcraft today and saw a CT26 with the workstation on it and it looked pretty handy for setting us a nice sanding station.

Now I'm so confused... [blink]

I would get the CT26.

I have a CTmidi and a CT26.  The reason I would lead you to the CT26 is the ability to add the boom arm or work center.  You can't have both at the same time.

But the Mini will not work with the boom or work center.

You could build a boom arm or work center and attach it to a CTmini.  But my preference would be to buy the Festool system.

The Mini suction capacity is 99 CFM and the CT26 is 137 CFM.    And of course the CT26 will hold more saw dust.

The Mini bag will hold 2.6 gal and the CT26 holds 6.9.  So depending on how much you will use it you would need to change bags more with the Mini.

The noise level is the same at 62 dB.  on the low setting.  But the CT26 is 71 dB on max setting, and the Mini is 72 dB on max setting !!!  [tongue]

If you want to use a 36mm hose, then go with the CT26.  The hose on the CT26 goes in the front vs. the top on the Mini.  So if you want a Dust Deputy on a

Mini you will have to keep that in mind. 

I believe the CT26 just gives you more options.  Just my two cents.

I have the 2011 2012 catalog  page 12 that states the CTmini and CTmidi at 99 CFM and the CT26,36 and 48 at 137 CFM.

Did Festool mess up on the printing of the catalog?

It wouldn't surprise me if it was a misprint in my catalog.

I also found another misprint in it.    Page 120.  The Cordless Drill C12 Li 1.5 set has the part number 564 362 (which is the part number for

the just the C12)  The part number for the C12 set should be 564 366.  The C12 is $410 and the C12 set is $535.....so IF you are ordering from

the catalog, could you get the C12 set at the C12 price? [scared]

Eric - not sure you are correct on using both items on a CT-26. 

I have both the boom arm and the workcenter on a CT-22.  I believe you can do the same on a CT-26.

CT-22 is excellent dust extractor. If it's in good condition and price is right, just buy it.  I do own CT-26 and CT-mini (it was CT-22 and CT-mini before).  Even old Festool is always Festool

The CT22 is not HEPA-certified, but the CT26 is.  The CT22 is a great dust extractor.  I use one with the boom arm in my shop as well as using the CT-Mini for site work.  I've never regretted the decision to buy both for specific applications.  The added benefit is that the CT-Mini is also HEPA-certified which keeps my customers happy that their homes aren't getting filled with dust.

CT-22 was equipped with HEPA filters long time before HEPA mandatory certification.  Why to bother certificate older model? So it is HEPA vacuum, but without certificate.
CT-26/36 was FIRST HEPA certified vacuum in the USA
HEPA certification is not mandatory for home and DIY use.

Used CT22's can often be had pretty darn cheap.  Up up to 3--2 in the shop and one for the house.  Just be sure when buying to consider the cost of buying new hepa filters if you want them and if it needs them, and if applicable, a missing hose if you need it.

Please tell me there's no way to do a boom arm, Work center, and Dust Deputy.  I like the Workcenter, but love the Dust Deputy for the bag savings

Do you have the "ultimate dust deputy" or one of the others?

The machine was updated some time ago without any publicity from the side of Festool. If you give them a call they can tell you from what serial# you get the updated model.

I couldnt help it, I got a MIDI at 20% off with recon sale.  I ordered a ets 125 a week or 2 ago at 20% off and it looked brand new and smelled new, so I felt comfy getting some more. Oh and got a rts 400.
