Ideal TS75 guide rail length for doing 48" crosscuts?

Using my TS75 yesterday reminded me that the 55" (1400mm) rail is not really long enough to do a proper or easy crosscut on a 48" panel. But the 75" (1900mm) rail seems too long.

If you could pick the 'ideal' length of guide rail for your TS75, what length would you choose?

The 75" is what I use. Also nice to have if you need to cut an angle.

Aww, c'mon you guys? Where's your creativity? You can't truly believe that Festool get it right, can you (said with tongue planted firmly in cheek)?

I want to make a custom length guide rail and you guys are NOT giving me any encouragement!
[tongue]
Somebody please tell me that it should be 64 inches, or 1600mm or whatever? I am anxious to get a length that is *JUST* perfect to do a 90 degree crosscut on a 48" sheet of goods. I will use the 'off cut' of the rail to do short crosscuts, as the shortest rail I currently have is 55"/1400mm.

I see this as a win-win.

OK, it should be 64".  [tongue]

Actually a little rough measuring of the TS75  base indicates that about 66" would be the shortest it could go to allow full run in / out of the blade at the ends and also avoid  starting or stopping beyond the rail gibs (?). That would not give any extra for supporting the rail ends if you want to do so.

Well, that would mean that 75" *is* pretty close to the ideal length. Honestly, that is not the answer I was expecting?!

If I only had the TS75 to crosscut 1200x2400 sheets I'd certainly want the 1900 rail. I actually feel the 1400 can be a little skimpy at times for the TS55 and would have liked it to be 1500.

Mafell with a 1600mm rail would be just perfect!

You asked for it! :)
