Last Monday I had a chance to spend a good part of my day with Jordan the area sales manager for Festool at a Gary Katz Roadshow event.  Someone walked up and was talking about getting the Kapex and a CT-22 in the future.  Jordan explained that the Kapex worked better with the 36 mm hose.  He then went on to show the potential buyer the tradesmen / installer kit and its components versus the individual price for just the 36mm hose.  Definitely the best value is the kit.

Check it out on the Festool website:

Tradesman Kit:  http://www.festoolusa.com/products/dust-extractors/cleaning-sets/tradesman-installer-cleaning-set-454766.html

Compact kit:  http://www.festoolusa.com/products/dust-extractors/cleaning-sets/compact-cleaning-set-456736.html

Hose by itself:  http://www.festoolusa.com/products/dust-extractors/antistatic-hoses/antistatic-hose-36mm-x-35m-452882.html

With the kit you get better quality wands and accessories than in the compact kit and a larger systainer to store your hose.

You be the judge.

Although currently $30 more than the Tradesman kit, the Workshop Cleaning Set is also a great choice.  The metal floor sweep included in this cleaning kit is simply top notch.  To round out your cleaning tools, you might also purchase some of the Nozzels and Brushes available at reasonable prices.

I purchased these products a couple years ago when I wanted to add a D36 hose and couldn't be happier with that choice.

I ended up buying both the Tradesman and the Workshop cleaning set, for their 36mm hoses, and I also prefer the metal floor sweep.

I've cut two 16" sections off of one of my 27mm hoses and put a vac attachment for the tool end of the hose on both ends of the short section of hose.  Now I only have to carry one of the cleaning sets and the jumper hose and I can use all of my tools with the perfect hose.  36mm on the Kapex/HL850/1400 and the 27mm jumper on the sanders/Domino.  It doesnt really hamper the use of any of the tools and I dont have to carry two hoses.

Peter, I've been preaching this for years. It's the best way to leverage your dollar. It's good it now has its own thread. [thumbs up]
