If you don't own a C 12 drill you owe it to yourself to take a look at one.

I purchased a C 12 drill with the keyless chuck, eccentric chuck, and right-angle chuck.

Because I just received it I have not had time to give it a thorough workout but I am very pleased with it so far.

The drill is very well balanced and comfortable to hold, much more comfortable than traditional cordless drills which can be top heavy and easily toppled. I think the C 12's form factor makes it an ideal drill for assembly and installation jobs. While few drills can compete with a tough impact driver in driving decking screws into 4x4 pressure treated lumber, the C 12 seems to be an ideal drill for most all other tasks. While the cost may seem high, having the eccentric chuck and right angle chuck allows you to do things that were otherwise not possible without additional tools. Therefore, I think it is actually a bargain.

I encourage everyone who is not familiar with them to try them out the next time you are at a Festool dealer. The first C 12 I saw was on This Old House. I really did not know what to think of it, it looked strange. But I am very happy I purchased one.

Glade that you like it.I have 2 of them and use them everyday.I install cabinets and the c12 is perfect for that.
I've had them for about 5 years now.  Love it!

I'm thinking of getting one soon... Will the small one strong enough to do kitchen installs?
Can't comment on the small one.I have the 3.0 AH.Sometime I can go 2-3 days on a single battery(each drill)

The only difference in the amp hours of the battery's is weight and run time.
No power difference.  1.3 weighs the least and the run time between charges will be less.

I love my c-12 but, I can't wait to start having an affair with the c-15 though [big grin].

I can't wait for the new one to come out... my makita is only good for maybe 30 minutes... and i'm not buying another one of those...

I think im going to get one then when the C-15 comes out get one of those. I like the idea of having a cordless with a nicad battery so when i need one out in freezing weather i know i will have a drill that will run with out giong dead in five minutes like the lithom batterys do.

I have the 1.3 and the 2.4 batteries, and would buy the 2.4.  It just seems to be the best balance for the drill.  Either should handle a typical cabinet install.

I have the 2.4.  Love it.  Other than the batteries getting a little weak after 3+ years of use and thousands of screws, it works just as well now as the day I bought it.  That said, when the new C15 comes out, I'm buyin' it.

Regards,

Dan.

p.s. IMO, the reason that many people say they don't like it is that they haven't used it.  After you use it for a few minutes, it's weird looks and strange hand-feel fade quickly.

You are right, this drill is perfect for cabinet installation. I am glad yours is holding up so well.

I bought the 1.3aH. I think that for assembly and general use it will do a great job. I am not worried about the extra power because I have a larger cordless drill and impact driver for the occasional work that requires it. I think the lighter weight of the 1.3 ah works to an advantage for general use and assembly.

I think the 1.3 aH would do well in cabinet installations because it has good power yet is lighter weight. I think that for cabinet installations power is less of an issue and more important is a compact design and the eccentric and right angle chucks will come in handy in tight places for sure.

Dan. That is exactly how I felt, I did not know what to make of it when I first saw it on television, it looks like nothing else on the market. Because there are so few brick and mortar Festool dealers many people are missing out on this drill because you really have to experience it to see how comfortable it is and how useful the additional chucks can be.

My old CDD is still ticking away after all these years...must be going on 7 years i think. The only thing ive had done is have the batteries repacked. But mark my words when the C-15 gets here im gonna have me one of them babies. [drooling]

My dealer is getting a demo of the C15 tomorrow.  Told him to try & keep it then sell it to me but i don't think he will get to keep it.  Whatever happens, i will get 1 on the 1st May  [big grin]
