Impact driver... Please?

My Makita's still alive, but batteries are killing me, they're so expensive.

Really drooling over the protool impact, which obviously is NAINA.

Can't Festool just rebrand the protool impact and get it over here already?

Yay!  Another person who has battery problems with Makita!  Hey only 1 person (Mat D on FOG)  I know out of MANY I know in person and 1 or 2 on fog who have had battery/charger problems with Makita and your just adding to the many list!

To be fair, it's an old school NiMh powered unit.

Batteries are still expensive though.

That said, having read that thread I'll steer clear of the new Makitas...

I bet they'll pack up now! hehe

Noticed Axminster are doing a branded battery for Makita..

  Add another to the list.Never had any problems with any Makita tool!I've had the 18v LXT 2 or 3 years,been really good.I've still got an old NiMh that still works[just] must be 7 years old.All other Makitas have been rock solid.

I didn't know so many folks had problems with LXT.

Maybe it's a volume thing I mean they must be the biggest sellers of 18v lithium by far?So stands to reason there are more problems overall.I don't know just I've always rated Makita....

I talked with Christian about rebranding some of the Protool tools and he said they're looking into that idea.  Also, there was a Festool impact prototype making the rounds a years ago.  I bet we see one sooner or later, hopefully sooner.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I've had one of the Ryobi impact drivers since before I'd owned any of the Festools.

I don't really see a need to replace that particular tool; not something I use all that frequently, and the one I have works great when I do use it...

On the other hand, I've been surpised by Festool offerings before in unexpected ways...

i have just found this thread.

with regards to the protool.

protool do have an impact wrench.
they do not have an impact driver.

i have tested the impact wrench over a one week period and it failed miserably for onsite construction work.
if you are a steel framer, just maybe you would use this tool, with  5/16 and  3/8 socket bits for screwing tech screws.

i have built a few steel framed houses and the one thing i require is my impact driver to be light.
the protool impact wrench is 2.3kg or 5lbs.
this tool is no light weight.

i do agree that the protool range should be made available in the u.s.
protool have an awesome range of tools for heavy duty construction work.
like festool, dust extraction is an integral part of the system.
i have been purchasing protools just as long as i have been purchasing festools (11 years).
and they have never let me down.

i would love to see a protool reciprocating saw (sawzall).
and an impact driver.
i am sure we will see some new toys in the not too distant future.
