In search of planer stand

That's a really short bed.  Is that going to give good results?

The pics are of the stand for the smaller planer EHL 65. I guess the one for the 850 is bigger and longer.

...your best bet is to continue to scour the internet on a weekly basis. They show up from time to time but not often. Just make sure the "Scale Ring" is included because it's no longer available from Festool.

If you have a Google account, you can try setting up a Google alert. You can configure it to get "as-it-happens" emails when Google finds new results for the search keywords ("Festool 485017").

HL 850 is indeed longer. Has nothing to do with the stand.

I think some are missing that there are special heads available for the HL850. This allows to make things one simply *cannot* make using a jointer, no matter how good:

HL 850 is indeed longer. Has nothing to do with the stand.

So it 'pays' to keep older catalogues around… From the 2014 Festool-cat: stands for the planers: SE-EHL for the EHL 65, EAN 488524 (around € 75); SE-HL for the HL 850, EAN 485017 (around € 105).

I don't understand.  What would the planer stand do for a hand-held planer?

The stand cradles the planer upside down so that you can use it like a traditional floor machine.

It looks like it could be made more useful with the addition of infeed and outfeed extensions.  It looks like you could mount it on a shop made "table" similar to a shop made router table.

i like mines. I use it for small pieces like cabinent doors etc. My full size jet jointer in on wheels this saves me the problem of rolling it out cleaning it and rolling it back. Its one of those tools you dont always need it but have it for when you do
