Not sure if any of you follow these sports. I've not been a NASCAR fan for a couple of decades now and prefer this type of racing and rally racing.

Man, what a race and ending at Long Beach with IndyCar. I was corresponding with a FOG member who attended the race. I was traveling and had to DVR it. What a race... Can't wait for the 500 in a month.

And, Mercedes is mopping up with 3 wins in just 4 races so far this year. Finishing 1st and 2nd in the last race. I wish we had more F1 races in the US.

I'd dig having the opportunity to experience a ride in one of these cars some day.

And, I read a review about the new Porsche 918 Spyder and it sounds like an amazing car, but I'm still saving for it. ($900,000)  [crying]

I used to go to the Long Beach race when they first started them, when I lived in the LA/Orange County area.  The first few years they were F1 races, then the organizers switched to Indy cars because it was a lot cheaper to put the race on.  F1 wanted too much appearance money.  It was a different atmosphere when it was F1 compared to the Indy cars.  Long Beach used to have the "garages" inside the arena there on the property, and the teams' areas were divided by low rails.  If you bought the garage pass with your ticket, you could walk around and watch all of the different teams working on the cars.  Lots of nice looking ladies in the team areas, too.

I agree about wanting more F1 races here.  It is difficult being a fan when 90% of the races are run when we are asleep here.

Shane, you need to convince Festool to sponsor a race team to go up against Trim-Tex. 
The owner of TrimTex is big into racing and races quite often. He even held the drag bike world record for a while.
 
Ya,that Hamilton kid is really something.
It's to bad f1 changed the engine package,doesn't have the same sound.
I'm not much of a nascar fan (Neck Car) . Red neck
 
There is a Formula 1 track in the United States!!! It is called the Circuit Of The Americas and is in Austin Texas!!! From what I understand it is the ONLY Formula 1 track in the country now. So if you are a fan and live in central Texas you are set!!!!

Yeah, Hamilton is mopping up. Vettle was a little bent out of shape about being told by his team to move out of the way of his young teammate too.

The engine sound doesn't bother me as much as it seems to others. I just enjoy the competition.

Scott, that would be a blast. I did a little SCCA stuff back in my younger days but didn't have a vehicle then that was competitive. A sweet Porsche or MB with Festool colors would be awesome.

Now I know how you guys not near our training centers feel. Austin is a bit of a trek from here.
 
Mercedes have clearly adapted to the new regulations best. Hamilton's teammate Rosberg looking good too with a top-2 finish in every race.
 
I used to be a big fan of racing, being Indy or FI and NASCAR.  But to me it has gotten boring to much leveling the playing field.  What I mean by that is if a team could delevop more power and in turn dominate a race or the series, that was what I enjoyed.  Back in the days when Penske was winning with Unser Jr and doing the 123 sweep, it made the others have to step up, whether in development or strategy.

F1 was sort of the same, if you got the pole and could get the lead in the first turn, you could almost write your ticket to victory lane.  F1 cars generally are a lot faster with open air, so the cars battling in the middle to back of the pack never could really catch the race leader.  Plus F1 is more cyclical with the changes as rules and equipment changes.  Mercedes was top dog for awhile, then Ferrari was the one to beat and now it appears MB is again the front runner.  The fact that F1 isn't raced in the states often and always being televised at 3 am, leads to basically no market over here.  I would much rather watch F1 versus Indy. 

Part of racings problem, is that too many teams compete and really some shouldn't even be on the circuit, better cars, less drivers would make it more interesting.  I hate that NASCAR puts 43 drivers in each field, 6-8 will drive their few laps and collect the prize money and then park the car, this should stop.  NASCAR I will watch, because at least there is some banging out on the course, and the potential for the big wreck exists.

When I was watching racing, my personal favorite was The German Touring Car Series.  Not sure it is still around.  I liked watching the Porsche, BMW, MB, Alfa Romeos race.  It was entertaining.

When I was little, I used to race quarter midgets.  It was a blast, but expensive.  I was fortunate that I was able to drive a competitive car. 

A Festool sponsored race car would be cool.  But would they call the fuel cell a Systainer Cell?

 
I just have the DVR set to record the entire F1 series. I can watch any time I want. You don't have to watch it live, ya know.  [tongue]
 
I've done a lot of work for one of the f1 team owners (Marussia). We've fitted out a couple of really flash houses for him.
 
For those who are Indycar fans, the last race of the year is starting shortly on NBCSN.

Wouldn't it be crazy if they find our Rosberg has been sabotaging his teammate, Hamilton's, car in F1? Those two are going to tangle (even more than the last race) before the year is over.
 
This teammate rivalry is like the old days, when they actually had personalities but Shane, I think you may be stretching thing a tad!

The boys will tangle yet, but I'm betting on Nico this year.
 
Mercedes announced yesterday that they took disciplinary action against Nico. So I think it's beyond just being incidental racing contact. Of course, I doubt there was sabotage and was just throwing that out for a touch of drama. I personally like Hamilton far better than Rosberg.

It's good to know he has one fan at least. I think he's been gearing up for the American market for some time, so it might explain a few things.

Can't you just sell a couple of Festools and get close? According to the general populations you could...

Quite a turn of events @ Italian GP, Hamilton narrows gap on Rosberg to 22 points. Hoping it comes down to last race.
 
Italian fans gave Rosberg a warm welcome at the end  [eek]

Glad to see Hamilton come through and win  [thumbs up]
 
I'm a Hamilton fan. The guy has overcome some big setbacks and continues to have a very professional and chill attitude. Even with today's race, he had issues with his electronics during the start and still came back to win. Succeeding against the odds, that's a true winner. I also hope he takes the points lead over the next 6 races.
