Initial lr32 set up

Finally bought lr32 with or1010. Any advice on first time set up, calibration or any tips. I've watched a few videos,and fest rep gave me brief run down but any advice would be great!

In addition to watching the Steve Bace video Erock has made a three part series which does an excellent job of explaining the use of the LR32 system. I highly recommend these as they are replete with great information. After you view these videos you should be well on your way to being able to properly use the LR32 system. It is a terrific setup and yields VERY professional looking results! Just my two cents worth!

Basically the only advice I can tell you is to remember the length of the panel and door has to be divisible by 32mm.

I use a 900 mm metric story stick I got from woodpeckers. Conveniently thats the height of a MFT and CMS

Did you buy the long rail or the 1400? You can join 2 1400 rails using the connectors and a end stop ( think thats what they are called) look for the = sign set it in between the 2 guide rails ad tighten your connectors works great.

I just received my LR32system yesterday as well  [big grin] I went with the 1400 rail and also got the RAS115 and MFS400, I have the green fever too [drooling]  

Good point on making things divisible by 32mm.

Its the only way it will work accurately.

your doors should be the same length as the cab sides.

That way when you drill the 35 mm mortise for the hinges they will line up perfectly with the hole drilled for the hinge base plate.

I plan on using the LR32 system to make some custom sysports to place on either side of my Kapex, that is on a MFT/Kapex, and to make the 20mm holes on the top of them like the MFT.

My advise would be to practice.

Make a couple runs with the LR32.  Even though I marked my holes with a color marker, I still drilled holes for the hinge plates on both sides of the cabinets.

[embarassed].  Once you get the hang of it and figure out your work flow, it will move along nicely.  Try to remember to drill all the holes for the front

of you cabinets first before you move to the back set of holes.  It may sound like common sense, but I had a cabinet next to my scrap stack and I forgot

to drill the holes for it. 

This weekend I plan on  playing around with the LR32 and the parallel guides together.  Something the talented Brice Burrell demonstrated in a video,

to see if this would speed up the process.

Just used mine with my new 1010 yesterday and today making sysports.

I got hung up on having the side sitting on my bench , and that left no way to clamp the rail. Then I had to remove the spacer rods so I could drill at the ends, and of course it moved on me.

The I realized (doh!), just turn it sideways to overhang the bench and you can use clamps under the rails.

So I'm over drilling and plugging holes tomorrow.....

Also 1010, put dust hood back on after alignment but BEFORE the 5 mm bit.

Eric, one of the things I liked about your video, in part one you mentioned playing with the LR32.  I'm glad you said that and your advice here about practice couldn't be more true.  You really need to screw things up once or twice before you figure out what is going wrong and how thing should work.  Grab some scraps out of the bin and practice, best advice ever!

Balanced panels(divisible by 32mm) is a good idea but not a necessity for the LR32 system, if not balanced you just have to always reference off the same end.  If you are using a single 1400 LR32 rail it is still possible to drill full height (8') cabinets, but you will want your panels balanced then as you have to swap rails during the process.
