Don't the ribs in the lid near the T interfere with the orange bin? Since that bin had the cutouts to allow for the previous ribs, but now the ribs got redesigned as well.

The ribs near the T appear to be in line with the orange box but there’s clearance as the bins sit below the edge. It closes and locks without any resistance. It just needs something in the lid to fill the extra height.

As far as taking up the extra space, I'm not sure if the lid foam will be enough or if I should alter some base foam to fit in the lid.

You need that sturdier flat lid hard foam, not that soft foam in mountain pattern.
