Installing Plug-It Pigtail on Makita Tracksaw

I recently set up an clothesline style overhead support for the CT hose/cord, it took me a while to fork up the $50 needed for connecting two hoses together … this was a real game changer though, always in the right place, never getting tripped up. There was still something missing though… constantly reconnecting the power from my Makita tracksaw to the added overhead extension cord held together with tape and Velcro was wearing on me. I’ve watched the Plug-It PigtailP come and go on Amazon and ebay and had sitting in my shopping cart for almost a year, but couldn’t pull the trigger to drop another $50. I reached my breaking point with the cord getting snagged on the side of the MFT or track..popped up on Amazon and in my mailbox from the UK in 2 week. 15 minutes in the shop and I couldn’t be happier. Power draw seems to be the same with no noticeable difference.

I appreciate the ferrules at the end of the wires rather than not having to twist or solder anything. And the length is just long enough to fit the rubber cord support and connect with the terminals. As an often talked about alternative to the TS, I thought this may be useful for others and found no photos of such.

Hey. Nice job. I really wanted to convert my Rs-2 to a plug it cord but seems like they are not available anymore...I was a bit late to the party so too speak. It appears that the end you used will only mate with the smaller gauge cord, and "technically" is not supposed to be used with tools drawing over a thousand watts I believe....
I'm wondering if this end comes apart enough to be able to remove the tab inside the molded plug so it would fit on the larger gauge cables? I know we are not supposed to modify these things but my RS2 does not draw that much and it would be fine. I have the larger cord attached to both my hoses as it works on all my festools got tired of switching cords...
Thanks, Greg

Oppps just read some more and refreshed my memory....it mates just fine to larger cord...just not made for higher wattage..."technically"....lol
Also, went on Amazon UK...but couldn't find a vendor who would ship to NA..which seller did you get to ship you the plug it? (if you don't mind sharing info...lol)

[member=62776]dupe[/member] let's see some shots of your overhead hose bar

[member=8389]gnlman[/member] It was lock of the draw I saw it was available. Here is a screenshot of the Amazon re seller if that helps. I'd check ebay

No issue with the thicker cord if I'm understanding correctly. The pigtail (Model #491 145)
RS 2, RS 3, RS 400, RS 4, DS 400, ES 125, OF 1000, OF 900, ATF 65, AT 65, AP 55, AP 65, EHL 65

and Model #491 144 is intended for
RS 1, RS 1C, DX 93, RO 150, RO 2,RAS 115, BF 1, PS 200, PS 2, KF 4

The Makita saw is 12amp which is acceptable draw on the 16 awg cord, but the saw is also 1800 watts out max... I'm using the sleeved hose (201751) with integrated 16 awg cord.

You are correct, the adapter won't mate to 18awg cord. Good info here

From [member=8]Jerry Work[/member]
"the 16ga wire can handle a maximum 12.5 amp load (1500 watts at 120 volts).  The male plug on both will connect to a plug in the wall (receptacle) capable of handling a maximum of 15 amps (1800 watts at 120 volts) but the wire in each cord will only safely handle the amp load noted so that is all the current that can be safely passed through that cord.  The "larger" 16ga cord can safely handle the current draw from any of the plug-it equipped tools (all of which have a less than 1500 watt draw).

I'm also looking for a Plug-It, for a Mafell track saw...

Don't do it the Mafell cord is infinitely better than the Festool cords. The flexibility outweighs the convenience.

[member=65062]DynaGlide[/member]  I ran across these pics in my phone and never posted them

Here is my solution for a clothes hose line. Just some aircraft wire, turnbuckle, and dowels with eye hook and velcro. Nothing fancy but big help when running a sander or tracksaw.
