After stripping out square drive pocket screws (and drivers) on some cabinets, I was interested by the recent discussion of GRK vs. Spax screws. I also noted the recent sales in the Classifieds of R4 and RSS screws.
Coincidentally, I received a flyer today from Hardware Distributors, Ltd. hdlusa.com with some GRK screws on sale. I have purchased hardware (pulls, Blum hinges and slides, and various other cabinet-oriented items) from them in the past and have found their pricing to be quite good. The catch is that you need to be in the trade to get approved for an account, however I do have an established account with them.
At any rate, I will probably buy some #8 x 1-1/4" pan head screws for pocket screw use. They also have the Fin/Trim screws on sale. I compared pricing to the other sites mentioned as offering good pricing. (Home Depot does not list either type online--in fact it says they have discontinued the pan head screws. Your local store may still carry them.) Here is a summary of what I found. Please note that these prices do not include shipping.
