Well guys if you think that this class is for beginners, you are sadly mistaken. Steve Bace did a awesome job instructing us on the finer points of various festoons. There was a lot, I mean a lot of information given to the point of info overload so I will decribe what I remember.

He opens the 1st days class with the statement that people only use these tools to 50% of their capability.

Then he begins showing us the other 50% of the ways these tools can be used. 1st day he discussed developing a plan/ cutting diagram. Then proceded to take out a TS55 ad go through all of the adjusted ment from adjust ing the toe in to adjusting the 45' stops (though not recommended), He discussed how to remove and reinstall the clear cutting strip on the rails rather then just buying a new cutting strip when needed. then we proceeded to cut up some MDF useing the cut diagram that he provided.

We utilized the guide rails and TS 55 to cut the pieces of the MDF . He had us cutting reg cuts and cuts on a 45 degree angle.

He spend a lot of time going over the Kapex, Its adjustments and how to adjust the laser. He explains the same thing in the cab class but because this is a "tool oriented" training class he spent a lot more time in his explaintions. He took his time and indebth answered everyonies questions about the tools whether it was ones they own or ones they were considering buying.

The second day he went over the routers all 3. he discussed and demonrated the fune adjustment knobs of the 1400 and 1010 as well as gave us the opportunity to use the 1400 and 2200. The 2200 he demo'd useing on a composite counter top, with a humgous bit that was awesome to use taking hiuge bites and handled so easily, then showed us that the bit he used had chiped carbide and how it had virtually no vibration..wow…
,
Then we spend alot of time, I mean a lot of time on the domino 500. Over dinner the first night I told the group I couldn't see a need for the domino, its a cool tool but I personally didnt have a need for it.

Wellll the next day when we assemble all the pieces he used the domino exclusively, all I can say is I felt like a idiot for saying I would never use it, and Im getting one tomorrow. It is a unbelievable machine.

We also had a chance to play with the new domino 700, Its a awesome machine too.

The last half hour S=we cleaned up and steve asked us if we had any questions about any tools, one classmate asked about the jigsaw, Well Steve demo'd it, and thewe got to play with it and then he gave us each one and explained to us how to properly adjust the blade with the carbide guides all I can say is Wow, one classmate is a high end carp and he was amazed how the tool a worked after the adjustments and he owned one and said he didnt know about that adjustment…

Ive been using the Lr 32 for a while now ad I asked Steve how to properly set up 2 , 1400 lr32 rails to maintain the 32mm pattern, (It was past 5 when class was supposed to end) and Steve explained it to me how easy it was and went over the set up of the Lr 32 system he ended up spending a extra hour with us and believe me no one complained.

So after all I learned in this class I can honest say that it definitely is not a beginer class. It is a class to teach us how to get the most out of the tools we own and or consider buying.

I highly recommend it for pros and  beginners alike.

Warning, If you decide to take it

Get ready for information overload.

Sancho,

Thanks for sharing...I have taken a few classes and Steve is the best.  He is always willing to answer any and all questions and he does a great job demonstrating all of the nuances of the tools.  You mentioned a warning for information overload, which I agree, but also be prepared for a lightening of the wallet as folks undoubtedly purchase a few more "must-haves" after the class...it would be interesting to find out how much each class costs of after-class Festool purchases...I know that I am in for a lot  ;D!!

Nice summary of the class.  I laughed at your description of the Domino!!  Anyone who says they see no need for the Domino should definitely never try it...

Just got back from buying the domino 500 kit w/ the systainer full of dominos.

Annnd since Steve demonstrated and explained how easy it is to connect 2 LR 32 1400 guide rails ad maintain the 32mm spacing I got one of those too.

Those classes are a curse, curse I tell you.
